3mm-15mm tempered glass price manufacturers

When sourcing tempered glass, you must specify the thickness (ranging from 3mm for light furniture to 15mm for structural partitions). Key metrics include fragmentation state (ensuring the glass breaks into small, blunt pieces), surface stress levels (typically >90MPa), and edge treatment (polished, beveled, or arrissed). Always verify the flatness tolerance, which should generally be within 0.2% to 0.3% to prevent distortion in architectural applications.

Compliance is critical for safety glass. For the US market, ensure the supplier meets ANSI Z97.1 or CPSC 16 CFR 1201. For the European market, EN 12150-1 certification is required, often accompanied by the CE mark. For Australian buyers, AS/NZS 2208 is the benchmark. Always request test reports from accredited third-party labs to verify these certifications before finalizing a purchase.

The price scales with thickness due to raw material volume and longer heating/cooling cycles in the tempering furnace. 3mm-5mm glass is commonly used for cabinet doors and picture frames; 6mm-10mm is the standard for shower enclosures and office partitions; while 12mm-15mm is reserved for heavy-duty glass fins, balustrades, and storefronts. Thicker glass requires specialized handling and higher shipping costs due to its significant weight.

Buyers should insist on a Heat Soak Test (HST) for thicker glass (10mm+) to minimize the risk of spontaneous breakage caused by Nickel Sulfide (NiS) inclusions. Additionally, check for visual defects such as bubbles, scratches, or 'leopard spots' (anisotropy). Ensure the hole drilling and notch cutting are performed before the tempering process, as tempered glass cannot be altered once toughened.

The biggest risk is breakage during transit. To mitigate this, require the supplier to use professional seaworthy plywood crates with interleaving paper or powder between sheets to prevent scratches and vacuum suction. Ensure the containers are tightly braced to prevent shifting. It is highly recommended to use CIF terms or purchase comprehensive marine insurance that specifically covers breakage.

Look for 'Audited Suppliers' on Made-in-China.com, as these companies have undergone on-site verification by third-party agencies like SGS or Bureau Veritas. Check their Business License, Export License, and specifically their factory capacity to ensure they can handle large-scale orders. Reviewing their transaction history and buyer feedback on the platform provides insight into their reliability and lead-time consistency.

Negotiate based on Total Square Meters (SQM) rather than just unit price. Suppliers often offer significant discounts (10-20%) for full container loads (FCL) because it optimizes furnace utilization and reduces packing complexity. Inquire about yield rates for custom shapes; standard rectangular cuts are cheaper than irregular CNC-cut shapes. Also, discuss long-term supply agreements to hedge against fluctuations in float glass raw material costs.

Use Secured Payment services provided by Made-in-China.com to ensure funds are only released upon proof of shipment. For large orders, consider a 30% deposit and 70% balance against the Bill of Lading (B/L). Never wire money to personal bank accounts; always ensure the beneficiary name matches the company name on the audited profile. Conduct a pre-shipment inspection (PSI) to verify quantity and quality before the container is sealed.
