50kw marine diesel generator manufacturers

When sourcing a 50kw marine diesel generator, you must prioritize the engine brand (e.g., Cummins, Perkins, or Weichai) and the alternator type (brushless, 100% copper wiring). Ensure the unit provides a stable 50Hz or 60Hz frequency and matches your vessel's voltage requirements (typically 220V, 380V, or 440V). Additionally, verify the cooling system type, as marine units require heat exchangers or keel cooling rather than standard radiators to handle saltwater environments.

Compliance is non-negotiable for maritime safety. The generator must be certified by major classification societies such as CCS (China Classification Society), ABS (American Bureau of Shipping), BV (Bureau Veritas), or DNV-GL. Ensure the product adheres to IMO Tier II or Tier III emission standards to meet international environmental regulations. Always request the Class Certificate for the specific engine and alternator serial numbers before finalizing the purchase.

The generator must be equipped with anti-corrosive coatings and stainless steel hardware to resist salt spray. Look for an IP23 or higher protection rating for the alternator. Essential safety features include automatic shutdown sensors for low oil pressure, high water temperature, and overspeed. For noise-sensitive vessels, prioritize suppliers offering soundproof enclosures (silent type) with a noise level below 70-75 dB at 7 meters.

Calculate the Fuel Consumption Rate, which should ideally be around 195-210 g/kWh at full load. Evaluate the availability of spare parts in your region; a cheaper generator with no local service network will lead to costly downtime. Consider the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), including the initial price, shipping, and the maintenance interval (typically 250-500 hours).

The primary risks include damage during sea freight and non-compliance with local port regulations. To mitigate this, ensure the supplier uses seaworthy vacuum packaging and a reinforced steel frame for shipping. Always use Made-in-China.com's Secured Trading services to protect your payment until the goods are verified against the agreed technical specifications.

Focus your negotiation on the warranty period (minimum 12 months or 1000 running hours) and the inclusion of a 'wear-and-tear' spare parts kit (filters, belts, gaskets). Ask for a Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) video showing the generator running at 110% load before dispatch. For bulk orders of multiple units, aim for a 5-10% discount or upgraded digital control panels (like Deepsea or ComAp).

Due to the weight (approx. 800kg - 1200kg), these units are shipped via LCL or FCL sea freight. Ensure the supplier provides a Wood Packaging Material (WPM) certificate or uses non-wood pallets to comply with international fumigation laws. Confirm the Incoterms (FOB or CIF) clearly to understand who covers the marine insurance, which is mandatory for high-value industrial assets.

Before full payment, hire a third-party inspection agency (like SGS or Intertek) to conduct an on-site audit at the factory. Verify the supplier's Business License and Export Qualifications on Made-in-China.com. Ensure all technical parameters, including power factor (0.8) and insulation class (H), are explicitly stated in the Proforma Invoice (PI) to avoid 'bait and switch' tactics.
