Airport body scanner price manufacturers

There are two main technologies: Millimeter Wave (mmW) scanners and Backscatter X-ray scanners. Millimeter wave scanners use non-ionizing electromagnetic radiation to create a 3D image and are generally preferred for safety and privacy as they do not use X-rays. Backscatter X-ray scanners use low-dose ionizing radiation. When sourcing, ensure the technology aligns with your local health regulations and privacy laws, such as the use of Automated Target Recognition (ATR) software which replaces detailed body images with a generic mannequin outline.

High-security equipment must adhere to rigorous standards. Look for ECAC (European Conference of Civil Aviation) or TSA (Transportation Security Administration) certification. Additionally, the equipment should comply with IEC 62463 for radiation protection and CE/FCC for electromagnetic compatibility. For B2B buyers, verifying ISO 9001 for manufacturing quality and ISO 14001 for environmental management is essential to ensure long-term reliability.

Throughput is measured in passengers per hour (PPH). High-end scanners can process 200-400 people per hour. A higher PPH usually commands a premium price but reduces the number of units needed and lowers labor costs. You should evaluate the scan cycle time (typically 2-10 seconds) and the false alarm rate (FAR); a lower FAR reduces manual pat-downs, significantly increasing operational efficiency.

Key specs include spatial resolution (the ability to distinguish small objects) and the ability to detect non-metallic threats like plastics, ceramics, and liquids. Ensure the system supports multi-view imaging or 360-degree scanning to eliminate blind spots. For integration, check if the software supports DICOM or other standardized data formats for centralized security management.

The primary risks include export control restrictions and dual-use technology regulations. Some countries require specific import licenses for radiation-emitting devices. To mitigate this, always request the HS Code (typically 9022.19) from the supplier to check for tariffs and trade barriers. Using Made-in-China.com's Secured Trading services can help ensure that payment is only released once shipping documents and compliance certificates are verified.

Body scanners are long-term assets (10+ years). Negotiate for a comprehensive Service Level Agreement (SLA) that includes remote technical support, annual calibration, and a guaranteed supply of spare parts for at least 5-8 years. Ask for tiered pricing where the unit price decreases if you include a 3-year extended warranty in the initial purchase.

Due to the sensitivity of the sensors and the high value, Air Freight is recommended for urgent needs, but Sea Freight (FCL) is more economical for multiple units. Ensure the supplier uses shock-absorbent vacuum packaging and tilt indicators on the crates. It is vital to specify Incoterms like CIF or DAP to ensure the supplier handles the complexities of international transit insurance.

Prioritize Audited Suppliers on Made-in-China.com who have undergone third-party onsite inspections. Request a factory video audit to see their testing lab and assembly line. Ask for case studies or references from previous international airport projects or government contracts to verify their track record in large-scale deployments.
