Auto parts airbag manufacturers

When sourcing airbags, you must prioritize inflator technology and deployment speed. Ensure the inflator uses non-azide gas generants to meet modern safety and environmental standards. The deployment time should typically be between 20 to 40 milliseconds. Additionally, verify the cushion material, which should be high-tenacity nylon 6.6 with a silicone coating to prevent heat-related skin burns during deployment.

Airbags are life-saving devices and must adhere to strict global regulations. For the US market, compliance with FMVSS 208 is mandatory. For European markets, look for ECE R94 and CE marking (specifically for pyrotechnic substances). Furthermore, the manufacturer should be certified under IATF 16949, which is the highest quality management standard for the automotive supply chain.

Request third-party laboratory test reports covering static deployment tests, environmental aging tests (high temperature/humidity cycling), and vibration resistance. A reliable supplier should provide a Certificate of Analysis (COA) for every batch. It is highly recommended to source from Audited Suppliers on Made-in-China.com to ensure the factory has undergone professional on-site verification.

Compatibility is determined by the OEM Part Number and the Airbag Control Unit (ACU) software. Ensure the supplier provides the exact plug-and-play connector to avoid SRS (Supplemental Restraint System) warning lights. The electrical resistance of the squib (initiator) must match the vehicle's original specifications, usually ranging between 2.0 to 3.0 ohms.

Airbags contain pyrotechnic inflators and are classified as Class 9 Dangerous Goods (UN3268). They require specialized UN-approved packaging to prevent accidental triggering. You must work with a freight forwarder experienced in DG (Dangerous Goods) handling and ensure all documentation includes a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) and a Dangerous Goods Declaration.

Use Secured Trading Services provided by platforms like Made-in-China.com to ensure your payment is only released after the goods are shipped. For large orders, consider a Pre-shipment Inspection (PSI) by a third party like SGS or Intertek to verify that the batch numbers and manufacturing dates (airbags have a shelf life) are current.

Focus on long-term liability and warranty terms rather than just the unit price. Negotiate for a warranty period of at least 2-5 years. Ask for tiered pricing based on annual volume commitments, and clarify who bears the cost of defective product recalls, which is a significant risk in the automotive industry.

Yes, check the HS Code (typically 8708.95) for your specific country to determine import duties. Be aware that some regions have strict anti-dumping duties or require specific import licenses for explosive-actuated devices. Always ensure the Country of Origin is clearly marked on both the product and the packaging to avoid customs delays.
