When sourcing tactical knives, prioritize High-Carbon Stainless Steel (such as 440C, D2, or 7Cr17MoV) to ensure a balance between edge retention and corrosion resistance. The construction should ideally be Full Tang, meaning the blade steel extends through the entire handle, providing maximum structural integrity and leverage for heavy-duty tasks. Additionally, verify the Rockwell Hardness (HRC); a rating between 56-60 HRC is optimal for survival gear.

The handle should be made of slip-resistant materials like G10, Micarta, or high-density textured rubber to ensure safety in wet conditions. For the sheath, look for Kydex or heavy-duty 1680D Nylon with MOLLE compatibility, which allows for versatile attachment to tactical vests or backpacks. Ensure the sheath includes a secure locking mechanism to prevent accidental deployment.

Key features include a sawback spine for cutting wood or bone, a hollow handle for survival kits (if traditional), and a non-reflective matte or black oxide coating to prevent glare. For modern tactical applications, buyers often prefer integrated glass breakers at the pommel and lanyard holes for added security during use.

Suppliers must adhere to ISO 9001 for manufacturing consistency. Furthermore, products must comply with ASTM standards for metal composition. It is vital to ensure the knives do not fall under 'prohibited weapons' categories in the destination country, such as automatic opening mechanisms or double-edged daggers, which are restricted in many jurisdictions.

The most significant risk is Customs Seizure due to local weapon laws. You must verify the blade length and locking mechanism regulations of the destination country (e.g., UK, Australia, or Germany). Always request the HS Code (typically 8211.92) from the supplier to confirm duty rates and ensure the item is classified as a 'hunting or camping tool' rather than a weapon.

Focus on Tiered Pricing; for orders exceeding 500 units, you should aim for a 15-25% discount off the sample price. Request a Custom Logo (OEM) service, which is usually included for free at higher volumes. Demand a Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI) to check for blade sharpness consistency and handle fitment before final payment is released.

Use Secure Payment Terms such as those offered through Made-in-China.com's Star Direct or Escrow services to protect your funds until delivery. For shipping, knives are often classified as 'Sensitive Goods'; ensure the supplier uses a logistics provider experienced in handling edged tools to avoid delays. Sea Freight is generally more cost-effective and faces fewer restrictions than Air Freight for large quantities of metal goods.

Look for 'Audited Suppliers' on Made-in-China.com who have undergone on-site factory inspections by third parties like SGS or TÜV Rheinland. Check their Export Experience to your specific region; a supplier who regularly ships to the US or EU will be more familiar with the packaging requirements and safety labeling needed for those markets.
