Blister aluminium foil manufacturers

Buyers must prioritize Alloy Grade (typically 8011 or 8021) and Temper (Hard or Soft). For PTP (Push-Through) packaging, Hard Temper foil is essential to ensure the foil breaks easily when the tablet is pushed. The thickness usually ranges from 20 to 30 microns. Additionally, verify the Heat Seal Strength (should be ≥ 7.0N/15mm) to ensure a hermetic seal with PVC/PVDC or Alu-Alu cold-forming films.

Since this is a primary packaging material for healthcare, the supplier must provide a Drug Master File (DMF) number. Ensure the product complies with FDA 21 CFR 175.300 for food and drug contact safety, and ISO 15378, which specifically governs primary packaging materials for medicinal products. ROHS and REACH certifications are also necessary to ensure the absence of heavy metals and hazardous substances.

The foil must offer a 100% barrier against light, moisture, and oxygen. Request a Water Vapor Transmission Rate (WVTR) test report. For branding and dosage instructions, ensure the supplier uses non-toxic, heat-resistant inks that do not migrate or fade during the heat-sealing process. Pin-hole testing is critical; high-quality foil should have zero pin-holes to prevent product degradation.

PTP Foil is thinner and designed to be pushed through, whereas Cold-Forming Foil (Alu-Alu) is a multi-layer structure (typically OPA/Alu/PVC) used for highly sensitive drugs that require maximum protection. Cold-forming foil requires high ductility to prevent cracking during the deep-drawing process, while PTP foil focuses on brittleness and sealability.

Always request a Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI) by a third-party agency like SGS or Intertek. Specifically, ask for a spectrometer test to verify the aluminum purity and a coating weight test for the heat-seal lacquer. Using Made-in-China.com's Secured Trading services can provide an extra layer of financial security by ensuring payment is only released upon proof of shipment and quality compliance.

Negotiate based on the LME (London Metal Exchange) aluminum price index plus a fixed conversion fee. This transparency protects both parties from market volatility. For long-term contracts, seek volume-based rebates and ask for free samples (at least 5-10kg) to conduct machine-run trials on your specific blister packing lines before committing to a full container.

Aluminium foil is highly sensitive to moisture and physical impact. Ensure the supplier uses suspended packaging (wooden crates with internal supports) to prevent 'flat spots' on the rolls. Demand sea-worthy packaging with desiccant bags and plastic film wrapping to prevent oxidation during long-distance ocean freight. Store the rolls in a temperature-controlled environment (15-25°C) upon arrival.

Verify the HS Code (typically 760719 or 760720) to check for any anti-dumping duties applicable in your country (e.g., specific duties on Chinese aluminum in the US or EU). Ensure the Certificate of Origin is accurately prepared to take advantage of any Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) that might reduce import tariffs.
