Chair stainless steel base manufacturers

The most common grades are Grade 201 and Grade 304. For standard indoor use, Grade 201 is cost-effective but prone to rust in humid environments. For high-end or outdoor applications, Grade 304 is essential due to its superior corrosion resistance and durability. Always request a Material Test Report (MTR) to verify the nickel and chromium content.

Common finishes include Mirror Polished, Brushed (Satin), and PVD Electroplating. A Mirror finish offers a luxury look but shows fingerprints easily, while a Brushed finish is better at hiding scratches. PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) is recommended for colored bases (like Gold or Rose Gold) as it provides a harder, more wear-resistant coating than traditional spray painting.

Buyers should verify the wall thickness of the steel tubing, typically ranging from 1.2mm to 2.0mm; thinner walls may lead to structural failure under heavy loads. Ensure the base has passed BIFMA X5.1 testing for load capacity and stability. Additionally, check the welding quality, specifically looking for full-penetration welds rather than spot welds to prevent joint snapping.

For the US market, products should align with ANSI/BIFMA standards. For the EU, compliance with EN 12520 (strength, durability, and safety) is required. Furthermore, ensure the plastic glides or feet attached to the base are REACH or RoHS compliant to avoid restricted hazardous substances.

Rust often occurs during sea transit due to salt air. Insist that the supplier uses VCI (Volatile Corrosion Inhibitor) bags or anti-rust oil. For packaging, ensure heavy-duty 5-layer corrugated boxes are used with EPE foam wrapping on each leg to prevent scratches during handling. You should also consider a pre-shipment inspection (PSI) via a third party.

Focus on the raw material weight and current market price of steel. Since stainless steel is a commodity, prices fluctuate. Negotiate based on volume tiers (e.g., 500+ units) and ask for a breakdown of labor vs. material costs. Using Made-in-China.com's Diamond Members can provide a layer of trust and leverage during price discussions.

Stainless steel bases are heavy and can be bulky. If the bases are stackable or KD (Knock-Down) design, you will significantly reduce CBM (Cubic Meter) volume and shipping costs. For large orders, FOB (Free On Board) is preferred, allowing you to use your own freight forwarder to control the ocean freight rates and local destination charges.

Always use Secured Payment services provided by reputable platforms like Made-in-China.com to ensure funds are only released after shipping documents are verified. Avoid 100% upfront payments; a standard 30% deposit and 70% balance against the Bill of Lading (B/L) copy is the industry norm for protecting buyer interests.
