China fashion jacket wholesale manufacturers

When sourcing fashion jackets, prioritize stitching density (at least 10-12 stitches per inch) and the quality of hardware like YKK zippers or reinforced buttons. For functional jackets, verify water resistance ratings (e.g., 5000mm-10000mm) and breathability indices. Always request a pre-production sample (PPS) to check the alignment of patterns, seam strength, and the hand-feel of the lining material.

Ensure the supplier complies with REACH (EU) or CPSIA (US) regulations regarding lead content and phthalates in zippers and dyes. For sustainable fashion, look for OEKO-TEX Standard 100 or GRS (Global Recycled Standard) certifications. If sourcing for corporate or protective use, verify ISO 13688 compliance for general performance requirements.

Maximize value by negotiating tiered pricing based on volume, where orders exceeding 500 units typically see a 15-25% price reduction. Consider FOB (Free On Board) terms to maintain control over shipping costs. Additionally, choosing stock fabrics instead of custom-dyed textiles can significantly lower the Minimum Order Quantity (MOQ) and reduce lead times by 2-3 weeks.

Clearly define the fabric weight (GSM), fiber composition (e.g., 100% Polyester with PU coating), and colorfastness grade (minimum Grade 4). For winter jackets, specify the fill power (e.g., 600+ for down) or the gram weight of synthetic insulation. Ensure the size chart is adjusted for your target market (Asian vs. European/US sizing) to avoid high return rates.

Always use secure payment methods and consider platforms like Made-in-China.com, which offer Secured Trading Services to protect your funds until the goods are shipped. Never wire full payments to personal bank accounts; use Letters of Credit (L/C) or Escrow services for large-scale wholesale transactions.

Focus on long-term partnership potential rather than just the lowest price. Request a breakdown of the Bill of Materials (BOM) to understand where costs are allocated. Be specific about Quality Acceptance Levels (AQL 2.5/4.0) during negotiations to ensure the supplier understands your tolerance for defects.

For fashion items, timing is critical. Use Sea-Air combined transport for a balance of cost and speed, or LCL (Less than Container Load) for smaller wholesale batches. Ensure all HS Codes (typically Chapter 62 for apparel) are correctly declared to avoid customs seizures or unexpected anti-dumping duties.

The biggest risks are size discrepancies and color shading. Mitigate these by requiring Third-Party Inspections (like SGS or Intertek) before the final payment. Ensure your contract includes a defective goods clause that specifies the supplier's responsibility for replacements or refunds if the AQL standards are not met.
