Granite headstones tombstones manufacturers

Buyers should prioritize Grade A natural granite to ensure long-term weather resistance. Key technical specs include a water absorption rate of less than 0.2% to prevent cracking in freezing climates and a density of at least 2.6-2.8 g/cm³. Ensure the supplier provides uniform color consistency across the slab, especially for premium colors like Shanxi Black, Blue Pearl, or Vizag Blue.

The surface should have a high-gloss polish (85-100 degrees) to resist moss growth and staining. For engravings, verify if the supplier uses sandblasting, laser etching, or hand-carving; laser etching is preferred for high-detail portraits. All edges should be beveled or bullnosed to prevent chipping during transit and installation. Ensure the product meets ISO 9001 standards for manufacturing consistency.

Cemetery requirements vary significantly by region; always confirm specific dimensions (height, width, thickness) and base requirements before production. For the US market, ensure compliance with ASTM C615 standards for granite dimension stone. For European markets, check for CE marking where applicable and ensure the supplier adheres to ethical sourcing practices (e.g., ETI Base Code) to avoid child labor in quarries.

Request salt spray test reports and UV resistance data to ensure the granite won't fade or degrade under extreme sun exposure. For colored or 'doctored' stones, ask for a guarantee against artificial dyes, as these will peel over time. A reputable supplier on Made-in-China.com should offer a 10-20 year warranty against natural cracking or significant fading.

The biggest risk is structural breakage due to improper crating. Buyers must mandate the use of strong, fumigated wooden crates (IPPC standard) with internal foam padding and plastic wrapping to prevent moisture buildup. Ensure the total weight per container complies with the destination country's road weight limits to avoid heavy-haul surcharges at the port.

While standard shapes have lower costs, custom carvings can increase prices by 50-100%. Negotiate based on volume tiers; for example, a full container load (FCL) can reduce unit shipping costs by up to 40% compared to LCL. Use Made-in-China.com's Secured Trading services to hold payments in escrow until the Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI) is completed and verified.

Always request a pre-production sample or high-resolution photos of the specific slab to be used. Utilize Third-Party Inspection services (like SGS or Intertek) to verify the stone quality and engraving accuracy before the balance payment is made. Ensure the Bill of Lading (B/L) description accurately reflects the stone type to avoid customs classification issues.

For the US, be aware of Anti-Dumping Duties (ADD) that may apply to certain stone products; verify the HS Code (typically 6802) with a customs broker. For all regions, choose FOB (Free On Board) terms if you have a reliable freight forwarder, as this gives you better control over the inland delivery to the cemetery or warehouse, which requires specialized lift-gate equipment.
