Heavy cotton t-shirt tshirt manufacturers

A true heavy cotton T-shirt is primarily defined by its fabric weight, typically ranging from 180 GSM to 240 GSM (grams per square meter) or higher. You should specify 100% Combed Cotton to ensure a smoother surface and higher durability compared to carded cotton. Additionally, look for 20s or 24s singles yarn count; a lower number indicates a thicker, heavier yarn suitable for the 'heavy' feel.

To prevent deformation after washing, prioritize suppliers offering pre-shrunk fabrics and side-seam construction for a retail fit, or tubular knit for a classic streetwear look. Essential quality markers include double-needle stitching on sleeves and bottom hems, and shoulder-to-shoulder neck taping to maintain the garment's shape under the weight of the heavier fabric.

Ensure the supplier complies with OEKO-TEX® Standard 100, which guarantees the fabric is free from harmful substances. For organic requirements, verify GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certification. If exporting to the US, ensure compliance with CPSIA (especially for lead content in prints), and for the EU, ensure adherence to REACH regulations regarding chemical dyes.

Heavy cotton (200+ GSM) provides an excellent stable base for high-density screen printing and puff prints because the fabric doesn't pucker under heavy ink. For Direct-to-Garment (DTG), the tight knit of high-quality combed heavy cotton ensures better ink absorption and sharper image resolution compared to thinner, looser weaves.

Request a Lab Dip for approval before mass production and insist on a color matching consistency of Grade 4 or higher on the grey scale. For large volumes, ensure the supplier uses the same dye lot for the entire batch to avoid visible shade variations between different shipping cartons.

Focus on Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) rather than just the unit price. Negotiate based on MOQ tiers (e.g., 500, 1000, 5000 units) and ask for inclusive pricing that covers labels, hangtags, and individual polybagging. Mentioning your intent to source via Made-in-China.com can often signal to suppliers that you are a professional buyer looking for verified manufacturing partners.

Because heavy cotton T-shirts are significantly heavier than standard ones, shipping costs will be higher per unit. For large orders, Sea Freight (FOB) is the most economical choice. Ensure the supplier uses moisture-proof desiccant bags inside the master cartons to prevent mildew during long-duration ocean transit, especially during monsoon seasons.

Always use Secured Payment services provided by reputable platforms like Made-in-China.com to ensure funds are only released upon proof of shipment. Additionally, hire a third-party inspection agency (like SGS or Intertek) to perform a Final Random Inspection (FRI) before the balance payment is made to verify that the GSM and stitching quality meet your specifications.
