Iron entrance door manufacturers

When sourcing iron doors, prioritize hand-forged wrought iron over cast iron for better durability and intricate detailing. Ensure the door frame and scrollwork use at least 12-gauge to 14-gauge steel tubing. For longevity, the iron must undergo a multi-stage anti-rust process, including hot-dip galvanizing, zinc spraying, and an epoxy primer, followed by a high-quality powder coating or hand-applied faux finish.

Iron is a natural conductor, so for colder climates, you must specify thermal break technology to prevent heat transfer and condensation. Ensure the door is injected with high-density polyurethane foam for insulation. Additionally, look for double-pane tempered glass (e.g., 5mm+6A+5mm) with heavy-duty weather stripping around the frame and glass panels to ensure airtightness and sound reduction.

For the US market, ensure the glass meets CPSC 16 CFR 1201 or ANSI Z97.1 safety standards. For hurricane-prone areas, request Impact-Rated certifications. The door should be compatible with standard American or European locksets (like Schlage or Baldwin). Verify that the supplier provides heavy-duty ball-bearing hinges capable of supporting weights often exceeding 300-500 lbs.

Professional suppliers on Made-in-China.com offer extensive customization, including operable glass panels (which open independently for cleaning and ventilation), various glass textures (frosted, rain, water cube), and custom dimensions to fit non-standard rough openings. You can also request integrated threshold designs and specific swing directions (In-swing/Out-swing, Left/Right) to meet local building codes.

Iron doors are heavy and prone to scratches or glass breakage. Insist on crating in solid plywood boxes rather than just cardboard. The packaging should include thick foam wrapping, corner protectors, and steel strapping. Request the supplier to provide loading photos and consider purchasing Marine Insurance to cover potential transit damage.

Focus on the Total Landed Cost rather than just the unit price. Negotiate based on volume tiers; for example, ordering a full container load (FCL) significantly reduces the per-unit shipping cost compared to LCL. Ask for a spare parts kit (extra touch-up paint, weather stripping, and glass clips) to be included at no extra charge to handle minor post-delivery maintenance.

Utilize the Secured Trading services offered by Made-in-China.com to protect your payment until delivery. Before the final payment, hire a third-party inspection agency (like SGS or Intertek) to perform a Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI). They should specifically check for weld smoothness, paint thickness (micrometer test), and door alignment to ensure the product matches the approved sample.

Check the HS Code (typically 730830) for iron doors in your country to determine applicable tariffs or anti-dumping duties. Because of the weight, ensure your local job site has proper unloading equipment (forklift or crane). When sourcing from Made-in-China.com, clarify the Incoterms; CIF is convenient, but FOB gives you more control over the shipping timeline and local terminal fees.
