Iron exterior door manufacturers

When sourcing iron doors, prioritize hand-forged wrought iron with a thickness of at least 12-gauge to 14-gauge for the door frame and scrollwork. Ensure the door includes polyurethane foam insulation injected into the frame and panels to enhance thermal efficiency. For the glass components, always specify tempered, double-pane insulated glass (typically 5mm + 6mm Air + 5mm) to ensure safety and energy conservation.

A professional-grade iron door must undergo a multi-stage finishing process. This should include hot-dip galvanizing (submerging the iron in molten zinc) as the primary anti-rust layer, followed by an epoxy primer, and finished with a high-quality powder coating or fluorocarbon paint. Request suppliers on Made-in-China.com to provide a salt spray test report to verify the finish's durability against coastal or humid climates.

Look for doors equipped with independent glass panels that open (operable glass) to allow for ventilation and easy cleaning without unlocking the main door. Additionally, ensure the inclusion of heavy-duty ball-bearing hinges capable of supporting weights exceeding 150kg-300kg, and high-quality weather stripping (EPDM rubber) around the frame and glass to prevent air and water leakage.

For the North American market, ensure the glass meets ASTM C1048 or ANSI Z97.1 standards. For European markets, look for CE marking and compliance with EN 14351-1. If the project requires fire rating, verify if the supplier provides UL-listed components or fire-resistance certifications. Always confirm that the U-factor and Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) meet local building codes for energy efficiency.

Iron doors are heavy and fragile due to the glass inserts. Insist on crating in solid plywood boxes (fumigation-free) rather than simple pallets. The doors should be wrapped in multi-layer pearl cotton and bubble wrap, with steel iron racks used inside the container to prevent shifting. It is highly recommended to purchase CIF insurance to cover potential transit damage.

Focus on the total weight and craftsmanship complexity rather than just the dimensions. Request a breakdown of the zinc-galvanizing process and the brand of paint used. For bulk orders, negotiate a staged payment plan (e.g., 30% deposit, 70% after passing a third-party pre-shipment inspection). Suppliers on Made-in-China.com are often open to providing free spare parts like extra weather stripping or touch-up paint kits if requested during negotiation.

Cross-border buyers often face issues with lockset compatibility. Specify whether you require US-standard (2-3/8" or 2-3/4" backset) or European-style mortise locks. It is often safer to have the manufacturer pre-bore the holes based on your specific hardware templates or purchase the hardware directly from the supplier to ensure a perfect mechanical fit before the door leaves the factory.

Use Secured Trading services provided by Made-in-China.com to ensure your payment is only released after delivery confirmation. Before placing a large order, request a factory audit or a video inspection of the welding seams and grinding smoothness, as these are the primary indicators of a factory's quality control level.
