Leather travel luggage bag manufacturers

Prioritize Full-Grain Leather for maximum durability and a natural patina over time, or Top-Grain Leather for a more uniform appearance and stain resistance. Ensure the leather thickness is between 1.2mm to 2.0mm to balance structural integrity with weight. For the interior, look for high-density polyester or cotton twill lining with a minimum 210D rating to prevent tearing.

Specify YKK or SBS brand zippers, preferably #5 or #8 gauge, to prevent teeth misalignment under pressure. Hardware such as buckles, D-rings, and rivets should be made of solid brass or zinc alloy with electroplated finishes to resist corrosion. For wheeled luggage, ensure 360-degree spinner wheels are tested for at least 20km of loaded travel.

For the EU market, products must comply with REACH regulations, specifically testing for Lead, Cadmium, and Phthalates. For the US market, ensure compliance with California Proposition 65. If the leather is chrome-tanned, verify that Hexavalent Chromium (Cr VI) levels are below 3mg/kg to meet safety benchmarks.

Check for double-stitched stress points and a stitch density of 6-8 stitches per inch. Inspect the edge painting (oil edge) for smoothness and lack of peeling. Request a load-bearing test report; a standard leather travel bag should withstand a static load of 20-30kg without seam failure or handle deformation.

Leather is highly susceptible to humidity. Require the supplier to include silica gel desiccant packets in every individual dust bag and use anti-mold stickers (e.g., Micro-Pak). Ensure the master cartons are double-walled (5-layer corrugated fiberboard) and wrapped in a waterproof plastic film before container loading.

Focus on Tiered Pricing based on MOQ; for example, request a 15-20% discount for orders exceeding 500 units. Negotiate for OEM branding (logo embossing) to be included in the unit price for bulk orders. Always clarify Incoterms (FOB vs. DDP) early to avoid hidden logistics costs.

Utilize Secured Payment services provided by Made-in-China.com to ensure funds are only released upon proof of shipment. Conduct a Third-Party Factory Audit (such as SGS or Intertek) to verify the supplier's production capacity and legal existence before transferring large deposits.

Use the correct HS Code (typically 4202.11) for leather-surfaced luggage to calculate import duties accurately. Be aware that some countries impose anti-dumping duties or specific CITES certifications if exotic leathers are used. Always request a Certificate of Origin from the supplier to potentially benefit from preferential trade agreements.
