Peg 40 hydrogenated castor oil manufacturers

PEG 40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil acts primarily as a non-ionic solubilizer, emulsifier, and surfactant. It is widely used in the cosmetics and personal care industry to incorporate essential oils and fragrances into water-based formulations. Additionally, it serves as a lubricant and antistatic agent in textile processing and a dispersant in the production of agricultural chemicals and coatings.

Buyers should focus on the Hydroxyl Value (typically 60-80 mg KOH/g), Saponification Value (45-65 mg KOH/g), and Moisture Content (≤1.0%). For high-clarity formulations, the color (APHA/Hazen) should be as low as possible (ideally <100). Ensure the product is a white to pale yellow paste or liquid at room temperature, depending on the specific ethoxylation degree and purity.

Suppliers must provide a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS/SDS) compliant with GHS standards. For cosmetic applications, look for ISO 22716 (GMP) certification. If exporting to the EU, REACH registration is mandatory. For the US market, ensure the ingredient is listed in the INCI (International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients) and complies with FDA guidelines for indirect food additives if applicable.

PEG 40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil typically has an HLB (Hydrophilic-Lipophilic Balance) value of approximately 14-16. This high HLB value makes it an excellent O/W (Oil-in-Water) emulsifier. Buyers must verify this value to ensure it matches their specific formulation needs for stabilizing oil droplets in aqueous environments.

The most significant risks include batch-to-batch inconsistency, heavy metal contamination (e.g., Lead, Arsenic), and residual 1,4-Dioxane or Ethylene Oxide, which are regulated impurities. To mitigate this, always request a Certificate of Analysis (COA) for every batch and utilize third-party inspection services (like SGS or Intertek) before the final payment is released.

Negotiate based on annual volume rather than single orders to secure 'Tier 1' pricing. Standard MOQs for chemicals are often 200kg (one drum) or 1,000kg (one IBC tank). Ask for tiered pricing (e.g., 1-5 tons vs. 10+ tons) and request free samples (50-100g) to be sent via air courier for lab testing before committing to a full container load.

PEG 40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil is generally classified as non-hazardous for transport, but it should be stored in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated warehouse (5-30°C). During sea freight, ensure the use of pallets with shrink-wrap to prevent drum movement. For winter shipping to cold climates, be aware that the product may solidify, requiring a 'hot room' or drum heaters at the destination to return it to a workable liquid state.

Utilize Secured Trading Services provided by Made-in-China.com to ensure funds are only released upon confirmation of shipping documents. Always verify the supplier's Business License and Export Qualification. Avoid using high-risk payment methods like Western Union; instead, stick to L/C (Letter of Credit) for large volumes or T/T (Telegraphic Transfer) with a 30% deposit and 70% against the Bill of Lading (B/L).
