Shipping service to the worldwide manufacturers

B2B buyers can choose from four main modes: Sea Freight (FCL/LCL), which is the most cost-effective for bulk goods; Air Freight, ideal for high-value or time-sensitive electronics; Rail Freight, a balanced middle-ground for Eurasia trade; and International Express (DHL/FedEx/UPS), best for samples and small parcels under 100kg. Selecting the right mode depends on your volume, budget, and lead-time requirements.

Incoterms define the point where risk and cost transfer. FOB (Free On Board) is highly recommended for experienced buyers as it allows control over the main carriage costs. EXW (Ex Works) places maximum responsibility on the buyer, while DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) is the most convenient for startups as the seller handles customs clearance and import duties, ensuring a door-to-door experience.

To avoid delays, ensure your service provider prepares a Commercial Invoice, a Packing List, and a Bill of Lading (B/L) or Air Waybill. Depending on the destination and product, you may also need a Certificate of Origin (CO) to benefit from preferential tariffs, and specific safety data sheets like MSDS for chemical or battery-operated goods.

Logistics providers charge based on the greater of Actual Weight or Volumetric Weight. For air freight, the formula is typically (Length x Width x Height in cm) / 6000, while for express it is often / 5000. To optimize costs, buyers should request vacuum packaging or cargo consolidation to reduce the total volume.

Prioritize Audited Suppliers who have undergone third-party verification by SGS or TÜV Rheinland. Check their Business License scope to ensure they are authorized for international forwarding, and look for members of WCA (World Cargo Alliance) which indicates a global network of reliable agents.

Major risks include cargo damage, port congestion, and unexpected surcharges. Mitigate these by purchasing Marine Cargo Insurance (usually 0.1% - 0.3% of cargo value), avoiding peak seasons like the weeks before Chinese New Year, and requesting a 'Fixed Price' quote that includes fuel surcharges and terminal handling fees.

Don't just negotiate on price; negotiate on Free Storage Time at the destination port (aim for 14 days) and payment terms. For long-term partnerships, ask for tiered pricing based on monthly TEU (Twenty-foot Equivalent Unit) volume. Always confirm if the quote includes 'hidden' costs like documentation fees or customs entry fees.

Use secure payment methods and consider services like Made-in-China.com's Secured Trading Service. Never transfer funds to private bank accounts; always ensure the beneficiary name matches the registered company name on the platform. Request a formal House Bill of Lading as proof of cargo possession before final payment if not using DDP.
