Steel weather tight door manufacturers

When sourcing these doors, prioritize marine-grade carbon steel or stainless steel construction to ensure structural integrity. Key specs include plate thickness (typically 6mm to 10mm), the type of sealing gasket (Neoprene or EPDM) for UV and salt resistance, and the clamping mechanism (quick-acting lever or individual dogs). Ensure the door features zinc-rich primer coating or hot-dip galvanization to prevent premature corrosion in maritime environments.

The product must comply with ISO 6042:2015 (Ships and marine technology — Weather-tight single-leaf steel doors). For B2B buyers, it is critical to verify certifications from IACS members such as ABS, BV, CCS, DNV, or LR. Ensure the doors meet SOLAS (Safety of Life at Sea) requirements for structural fire protection and water-tightness integrity if they are to be used on commercial vessels.

Request a hose test report or a chalk test result to verify the seal's effectiveness. For high-end applications, ask for pressure test certification (e.g., resistance to a specific water head). Evaluate the hardware quality, specifically the hinges and handles, which should be made of corrosion-resistant materials like stainless steel 316 or bronze to prevent seizing in salty air.

Suppliers on Made-in-China.com often provide customization for clear opening sizes, radius or square corners, and the inclusion of bolted or welded frames. You can also specify observation windows (deadlights) with toughened glass, thermal insulation infills, and specific RAL color powder coatings to match the vessel or facility's aesthetic.

Focus on Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) rather than just the unit price. Negotiate for tiered pricing based on volume and ask for the inclusion of spare parts kits (gaskets and handles) in the initial quote. Use Made-in-China.com's Secured Trading Service to link payments to production milestones, ensuring the supplier adheres to the agreed technical drawings before final disbursement.

The primary risks are surface oxidation (rust) during sea transit and structural warping due to improper stacking. Insist on seaworthy packaging, including VCI (Vapor Corrosion Inhibitor) plastic wrapping and steel palletization. Ensure the Incoterms are clearly defined; CIF or DAP are often preferred for buyers who want the supplier to manage the complexities of international freight and insurance.

Check if the supplier is an Audited Supplier on Made-in-China.com, which confirms their factory location and production capabilities. Request Type Approval Certificates for the specific door model. A legitimate manufacturer should be able to provide Material Test Reports (MTRs) for the steel used, tracing it back to the original mill.
