Tarpaulin eyelet manufacturers

The choice of material directly impacts the longevity and corrosion resistance of the eyelet. For outdoor or marine applications, Stainless Steel (304 or 316 grade) is the gold standard due to its rust-proof properties. Brass eyelets are also highly recommended as they are naturally rust-resistant and offer a professional finish. For cost-sensitive projects, Galvanized Steel or Aluminum may be used, but ensure they have a sufficient coating thickness to prevent oxidation when exposed to moisture.

Eyelets are typically measured by their internal diameter (ID). You must ensure the ID is 2-3mm larger than the rope or bungee cord intended for use to prevent friction damage. Common industrial sizes include 10mm, 12mm, and 15mm. Additionally, check the flange diameter and barrel length; the barrel must be long enough to clear the total thickness of the folded tarpaulin hem plus any reinforcement tape used.

To prevent 'pull-out' failures, prioritize eyelets designed with a toothed washer (spur washer). These teeth grip the fabric securely, distributing tension across a wider surface area. Furthermore, the crimping quality is vital; look for suppliers that provide matching die sets for their eyelets to ensure a perfectly rolled edge during installation, which significantly increases load-bearing capacity.

Buyers should request SGS or TUV material analysis reports to confirm the metal composition, especially for 'rust-proof' claims. If the tarpaulins are used in the EU, ensure the eyelets are REACH compliant, meaning they are free from hazardous substances like lead or nickel. For heavy-duty logistics, ask for tensile strength test reports to verify the maximum Newton (N) force the eyelet can withstand before deformation.

Always request a Salt Spray Test report (typically 24h, 48h, or 72h) from the supplier to verify corrosion resistance. Before shipping, utilize a third-party inspection service to perform a 'magnet test' (to distinguish between stainless steel and plated iron) and a quantity check. For secure transactions, use Made-in-China.com's Secured Trading Service to ensure payment is only released after quality verification.

Focus on volume-based pricing tiers. Since eyelets are small, high-volume items, the price difference between 10,000 and 100,000 units is significant. Negotiate for free spare washers (approx. 2-5% overage) to account for installation wastage. Additionally, ask the supplier to include customized mold sets at a discount if you are placing a large initial order, as this ensures technical compatibility.

Eyelets are heavy and dense, which can lead to high shipping costs and packaging failure. Insist on double-layered corrugated cartons with a moisture-proof polybag liner to prevent oxidation during sea freight. Request palletization for orders over 500kg to facilitate easy unloading and reduce the risk of box breakage. For shipping to the US or Europe, compare DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) rates versus FOB to see if the supplier's logistics agent has better consolidated rates for heavy hardware.
