Used rabbit cages for sale manufacturers

When sourcing used rabbit cages, the primary concern is structural stability and animal safety. You must ensure there are no sharp edges, broken wires, or rusted joints that could injure the livestock. Check the wire gauge thickness (ideally 12-14 gauge for durability) and verify that the galvanization is intact to prevent corrosion from rabbit urine, which is highly acidic. For multi-tier systems, confirm the load-bearing capacity of the support frames to prevent collapse.

Used equipment carries a risk of cross-contamination and pathogens like Coccidiosis or Pasteurella. Ensure the cages are made of non-porous materials like high-grade stainless steel or heavy-duty galvanized wire that can withstand high-pressure steam cleaning and chemical disinfection. Avoid used cages with wooden components, as wood absorbs bacteria and odors. Request a sanitation certificate or a professional cleaning report from the supplier before shipment.

To ensure productivity, the cages must meet specific functional benchmarks. Look for removable waste trays or sloped floor designs for easy manure management. The flooring should be plastic-coated or fine-mesh wire to prevent 'sore hocks' (pododermatitis). Ensure the door latch mechanisms are secure yet easy to operate with one hand, and verify that the feeding and watering system attachments are compatible with standard international fittings.

Different regions have strict space requirements. For example, EU standards often require more floor space and height than other regions. Ensure the used cages provide at least 0.5 to 0.75 square meters per adult rabbit and sufficient height for the animal to sit upright. If you are importing to the US or Europe, check for ISO 9001 manufacturing standards and compliance with AWF (Animal Welfare Foundation) guidelines to avoid legal issues at the destination.

The biggest risk is discrepancy between photos and actual condition. Always request a live video inspection or hire a third-party inspection service (like SGS or Intertek) to verify the condition at the supplier's warehouse. Ensure the contract includes a quality guarantee clause stating that the cages must be free of structural defects and heavy rust upon arrival.

Used cages are often bulky and expensive to ship. To optimize costs, negotiate for knock-down (KD) packing, where cages are disassembled to reduce the CBM (Cubic Meter) volume. Use FOB (Free On Board) terms to maintain control over your shipping costs and choose a freight forwarder experienced in oversized agricultural equipment. Ensure all metal parts are wrapped in anti-corrosion film for the sea voyage.

Never pay 100% upfront. Use a 30% deposit and 70% balance payment structure against the Bill of Lading (B/L). For maximum security, conduct your transactions through reputable B2B platforms like Made-in-China.com, utilizing their secured payment services to ensure your funds are protected until the goods are verified and shipped.

Used goods may be subject to quarantine inspections in many countries. Ensure the supplier provides a Fumigation Certificate and a clean bill of health for the equipment. Check the HS Code (typically 7326.20 for iron/steel wire products) to calculate import duties. Be aware that some countries have restrictions on 'waste' materials; ensure the invoice clearly states 'Second-hand equipment for agricultural use' to avoid being classified as scrap metal.
