Water treatment uv lamp manufacturers

Buyers must prioritize the UV-C Output (254nm wavelength), as this is the germicidal range required to deactivate bacteria and viruses. Key specs include Lamp Life (typically 9,000 to 12,000 hours), Quartz Sleeve Quality (high-purity silica for >90% UV transmission), and Ballast Compatibility. Ensure the lamp matches the flow rate (GPM/LPM) of your system to guarantee sufficient UV Dose (mJ/cm²) for effective disinfection.

For global market entry, products should ideally hold CE, RoHS, and UL certifications to ensure electrical safety and environmental compliance. Specifically for water contact, look for NSF/ANSI Standard 55 (Class A or B), which validates the disinfection performance. If sourcing from Made-in-China.com, verify the supplier's ISO 9001 certification to ensure consistent manufacturing quality.

Low-Pressure Amalgam lamps are best for residential and light commercial applications due to their high efficiency and stable output at lower temperatures. Medium-Pressure lamps are preferred for large-scale industrial or municipal wastewater treatment because they emit a broader spectrum and have a higher intensity, allowing for a smaller footprint in high-flow systems.

Regular maintenance is critical; the quartz sleeve must be cleaned every 3-6 months to prevent mineral scaling (fouling) which blocks UV light. The UV lamp itself must be replaced annually, even if it is still glowing, because the UV output intensity degrades over time. We recommend sourcing lamps with integrated UV intensity sensors for real-time performance monitoring.

The biggest risk is fragility. UV lamps are made of quartz glass and are highly susceptible to breakage. Buyers should insist on specialized shock-absorbent packaging (EPE foam + rigid cardboard tubes) and use palletized shipping for bulk orders. Ensure the Incoterms are clearly defined; CIF or CIP are recommended for new buyers to ensure the goods are insured during transit.

Request a sample for spectral testing before placing a bulk order. Negotiate a Quality Assurance Agreement that specifies the minimum UV-C intensity at 100 hours of use. For large orders, use Secured Trading Services on Made-in-China.com to protect your payment until the goods pass a third-party pre-shipment inspection (PSI).

Verify the HS Code (typically 8539.49) to determine import duties in your country. Be aware of Mercury (Hg) regulations, such as the Minamata Convention, as UV lamps contain small amounts of mercury. Ensure the supplier provides a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) and proper hazardous material labeling if required by your local customs authority.
