Wholesale butane gas cartridge manufacturers

When sourcing butane cartridges, the most vital certification is EN 417:2012, which specifies the requirements for non-refillable metallic gas cartridges. For the North American market, ensure compliance with UL 147 or DOT-2P/DOT-2Q standards. Additionally, verify that the manufacturer holds an ISO 9001 quality management certificate and provides a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for the gas mixture.

Prioritize cartridges equipped with a Rim Vent Release (RVR) system, a safety mechanism that prevents explosions by releasing gas through vents if internal pressure reaches dangerous levels. You should also request pressure burst test reports (typically requiring the canister to withstand at least 1.2 to 1.5 MPa) and check for triple-seam construction to prevent leakage during high-temperature storage.

The gas purity is paramount; look for a high-purity butane/propane mix (e.g., 95% butane) to ensure a stable flame and prevent clogging of stove burners. The net weight (commonly 227g or 250g) must be consistent across batches. Furthermore, ensure the valve type (usually a notched collar/bayonet style) is compatible with standard portable camping stoves and industrial torches.

Butane is a Class 2.1 Flammable Gas. Suppliers must provide packaging that includes protective caps to prevent accidental valve discharge. Storage instructions should specify a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight, with temperatures not exceeding 50°C (122°F). Ensure the outer cartons are UN-certified for the transport of dangerous goods.

The main risk is customs seizure or shipping rejection due to improper classification. Butane is classified as UN2037 (Receptacles, small, containing gas). You must work with a freight forwarder experienced in Dangerous Goods (DG). Failure to provide a Dangerous Goods Declaration or using non-compliant packaging can lead to heavy fines and the blacklisting of your import license.

Request a pre-shipment inspection by a third party like SGS or Intertek to perform a leakage test (water bath test) on a random sample. In your contract, specify that the gas weight tolerance must be within +/- 3g. For long-term cooperation, negotiate a tiered pricing model where the unit price drops by 5-10% once your annual volume exceeds a full container load (FCL).

Butane cartridges cannot be shipped via standard air freight. They must be transported via Sea Freight (DG Container). Ensure the supplier provides a Container Packing Certificate and that the goods are palletized with shrink-wrap and corner protectors to prevent shifting. For the 'last mile' delivery in the destination country, ensure the local courier is licensed to handle limited quantity (LQ) hazardous materials.

Use secured payment terms such as a Letter of Credit (L/C) for large orders or Trade Assurance services available through reputable platforms like Made-in-China.com. This ensures that payment is only released once the supplier provides the Bill of Lading and the required DG certificates, protecting your capital against non-delivery or non-compliance.
