Wholesale color drinking glass manufacturers

There are two main methods: Solid Color Glass (Batch Color) and Spray/Electroplated Color. Solid color glass is created by adding metal oxides to the raw molten glass, ensuring the color is permanent, dishwasher-safe, and food-secure as it won't peel. Spray-colored or electroplated glass involves applying a coating to clear glass; while this offers a wider range of vibrant colors and lower costs, you must verify the coating is lead-free, cadmium-free, and resistant to scratching or peeling after multiple wash cycles.

For the US market, products must comply with FDA 21 CFR and California Proposition 65 regarding lead and cadmium leaching. For the EU, compliance with Regulation (EC) No 1935/2004 and Directive 84/500/EEC is essential. Always request LFGB (Germany) or FDA test reports from the supplier to ensure the glass is food-grade and non-toxic.

Prioritize soda-lime glass for standard use or high-borosilicate glass if the product needs to withstand extreme temperature changes (e.g., hot tea or microwave use). Ensure the supplier performs thermal shock tests (typically a 40°C to 60°C temperature differential) and check for annealing quality to prevent spontaneous breakage. Thicker rims and weighted bases generally increase durability in high-traffic commercial environments like restaurants.

Suppliers on Made-in-China.com usually offer OEM/ODM services including custom logo embossing, laser engraving, decal printing, and bespoke packaging. For colored glass, you can request specific Pantone color matching for sprayed items or choose from standard batch colors. Note that custom molds for unique shapes will require a higher Initial Investment (Tooling Fee) and a larger MOQ (Minimum Order Quantity).

Glass is highly fragile, so packaging specifications are critical. Insist on 5-layer corrugated export cartons, individual bubble wrap or egg-crate dividers, and palletization with shrink wrap for bulk shipments. You should negotiate a breakage allowance (typically 2-3%) in your contract and consider third-party pre-shipment inspections to verify packing integrity.

Focus on volume-based pricing tiers; increasing your order to a Full Container Load (FCL) significantly reduces the unit cost and the risk of damage compared to Less than Container Load (LCL). Ask for sample consolidation to test different colors before committing. Also, leverage long-term partnership potential to negotiate better payment terms, such as a 30% deposit and 70% balance against the Bill of Lading (B/L).

Always use Secured Trading Services provided by Made-in-China.com to protect your payment. Ensure all technical specifications, including color type (solid vs. spray), weight (+/- 5g), and lead content limits, are clearly documented in the Proforma Invoice (PI). Never wire funds to private bank accounts; only use verified corporate accounts listed on the platform.

Be aware that some regions (like the EU or Turkey) may have anti-dumping duties on specific types of glassware originating from certain countries. Check your local HS Code (typically 7013.xx) classifications to determine the exact import tariffs and VAT rates. Working with a supplier who provides a Certificate of Origin (CO) can sometimes help in accessing preferential tariff rates under specific trade agreements.
