Wholesale ice candy bags manufacturers

The most important factor is ensuring the material is BPA-free and FDA-approved food-grade PE (Polyethylene) or PET/PE composite. For ice candy (popsicles), the film must have excellent low-temperature resistance to prevent cracking or becoming brittle at freezing temperatures (down to -18°C or lower). A thickness of 40 to 60 microns is typically recommended to balance cost-efficiency with puncture resistance.

You should prioritize bags with reinforced side seals or back-center seals depending on your filling equipment. Request suppliers to provide burst pressure test reports. If you are using manual filling, look for zip-lock or heat-sealable tops that offer a wide sealing window to accommodate slight temperature fluctuations in your sealing machine without compromising the airtight barrier.

For the US market, ensure compliance with FDA 21 CFR 177.1520. For the EU, the bags must meet EC 1935/2004 standards regarding materials intended to come into contact with food. Always ask for a Declaration of Compliance (DoC) and third-party testing certificates from labs like SGS or Intertek to ensure no harmful plasticizers migrate into the food product.

Most professional manufacturers on Made-in-China.com offer gravure printing which supports up to 10 colors for high-definition branding. You can customize the dimensions (e.g., 2x8 inches, 2x10 inches), add tear notches for easy opening, and choose between glossy, matte, or transparent finishes. Ensure the inks used are non-toxic and low-odor specifically designed for food packaging.

Always request a pre-production sample and perform a 'freeze test' by filling it with liquid and freezing it for 48 hours to check for leaks. Use Trade Resources on Made-in-China.com to select Audited Suppliers who have undergone on-site inspections. Consider hiring a third-party inspector to verify the material thickness and quantity before the final balance payment is made.

Focus on volume-based pricing tiers. Since packaging is lightweight, the unit price drops significantly as volume increases. Negotiate for free plate-making (printing cylinders) if your order exceeds a certain threshold (e.g., 50,000+ units). Also, discuss lead time guarantees, as delays in packaging can stall your entire production line.

Because ice candy bags are high-volume but low-weight, they are prone to high 'volumetric weight' charges in air express. For wholesale orders, Sea Freight (LCL or FCL) is the most economical. If you are in a hurry, Rail Freight (for Eurasia) or Sea-Air combined transport offers a middle ground. Ensure the supplier uses heavy-duty 5-layer corrugated export cartons with inner polybags to prevent moisture and dust contamination during transit.

Check the HS Code (typically 392321 for PE bags) against your country's tariff schedule. Be aware of anti-dumping duties or 'plastic taxes' in certain regions like the UK or EU. Ask your supplier to provide a Certificate of Origin (Form E, Form F, or CO) to help you qualify for preferential tariff rates under relevant Free Trade Agreements.
