Wholesale iron on patches manufacturers

When evaluating iron-on patches, focus on the embroidery percentage (75% vs. 100% coverage) and the thread type (polyester is more durable and colorfast than rayon). The most critical component is the Hot Melt Adhesive (TPU or EVA backing); ensure it is applied evenly to prevent peeling. For high-end retail, look for merrowed borders to prevent fraying and a minimum stitch density that ensures the design remains crisp after multiple washes.

For cross-border trade, patches must comply with chemical safety regulations. Ensure the supplier provides OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certification, which guarantees the threads and adhesives are free from harmful substances. If exporting to the US, verify compliance with CPSIA (Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act) regarding lead and phthalate content, especially for children's apparel. For the EU market, ensure the backing adhesive meets REACH standards.

While Iron-on (Heat Seal) is the most popular for DIY and retail due to ease of use, you should consider Velcro (Hook & Loop) for tactical gear or uniforms, and Adhesive (Sticker) backing for temporary event branding. For heavy-duty workwear, a Plastic (PVC) backing is often added to iron-on patches to provide extra rigidity and prevent the fabric from puckering during the heat press process.

Always request a physical sample or a high-resolution 'sew-out' scan before bulk production. Check for registration errors (misalignment between colors) and thread tension issues that cause the patch to pucker. A professional supplier on Made-in-China.com should be able to provide a digital mockup within 24 hours and a physical sample within 3-5 days to ensure the Pantone color matching is accurate.

The primary risk is adhesive failure, where patches fall off after the first wash. Mitigate this by requesting a wash-test report (typically 20+ cycles). Another risk is Intellectual Property (IP) infringement; ensure you have the rights to the logos you are producing, as customs can seize counterfeit branded goods. Use Trade Assurance services on Made-in-China.com to protect your payment until the quality is verified.

Pricing for patches is highly sensitive to stitch count and size. Instead of asking for a flat rate, provide a vector file (AI or PDF) to get an accurate quote. For wholesale, MOQs usually start at 50-100 pieces per design. You can negotiate a lower unit price by consolidating multiple designs into one large order to help the supplier optimize their machine setup time.

Since patches are lightweight but high-value, International Express (DHL, FedEx, or UPS) is usually the most efficient method, offering a balance of speed (3-5 days) and door-to-door tracking. For very large volumes (over 100kg), consider Air Freight to a local airport to reduce costs. Always clarify the Incoterms; DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) is recommended for buyers who want the supplier to handle all customs duties and import taxes.
