Wholesale mahjong tiles manufacturers

The most common high-quality material is Melamine, known for its durability, weight, and resistance to scratching. For premium markets, you may consider Acrylic or Urea-formaldehyde resin. Ensure the tiles have a high density to provide the traditional 'clack' sound and a substantial hand-feel. Avoid low-grade plastics that may warp or discolor over time.

Since Mahjong tiles are often classified under toys or games, they must comply with EN71 (Europe) or ASTM F963 (USA) standards. It is critical to verify that the paint used for the engravings is non-toxic and lead-free. Request SGS or Intertek test reports from the supplier to confirm the absence of phthalates and heavy metals.

Specify the tile size (e.g., 36mm, 40mm, or 42mm) as preferences vary by region. Ensure the engraving depth is consistent to prevent paint peeling. For international buyers, confirm if the tiles require Arabic numerals and Latin letters (Westernized version) alongside traditional Chinese characters. The back color (usually green, blue, or white) should be uniform across the entire set to prevent 'marked' tiles.

Professional sets must have perfectly squared edges and a smooth, polished finish to allow for easy shuffling and stacking. If sourcing for automatic Mahjong machines, the tiles must contain a magnetic core; ensure the magnetic polarity is compatible with the specific machine models sold in your target market.

The main risk is breakage or chipping due to the high weight and density of the product. Ensure the supplier uses reinforced double-wall corrugated cartons and individual shrink-wrapping for each set. Because Mahjong sets are heavy, sea freight is usually the most economical option, but you must account for longer lead times and potential port congestion.

Focus on volume-based pricing tiers. Since Mahjong production involves high fixed costs for molds, increasing your order to meet a higher MOQ (e.g., 500+ sets) can significantly reduce the unit price. Ask for OEM customization (such as a branded carrying case) to be included in the bulk price to increase your retail margin.

Always use Secured Trading Services provided by Made-in-China.com to protect your payment. Do not release the full payment until a pre-shipment inspection (PSI) is conducted. This inspection should verify the total tile count (usually 144 or 152 tiles), color consistency, and the quality of the storage case.

Mahjong tiles generally fall under HS Code 9504.90. Check the specific import tariffs for your country, as some regions may have anti-dumping duties on certain plastic products. Ensure the supplier provides a clear Commercial Invoice, Packing List, and Certificate of Origin to facilitate smooth customs clearance.
