I have found results from1000+products and500+suppliers aboutWholesale metal lighter
When evaluating metal lighters, focus on the material grade, typically Zinc Alloy or Stainless Steel, for durability and weight. Ensure the ignition mechanism (piezoelectric or flint) is rated for at least 10,000 strikes. For gas lighters, verify the refillable valve integrity and fuel tank capacity to ensure long-term usability. If sourcing electronic plasma lighters, check the battery capacity (mAh) and USB-C charging compatibility.
Compliance is critical due to the nature of the product. You must ensure products meet ISO 9994:2018, which specifies safety standards for lighter height, spitting, flaring, and structural integrity. For the US market, CPSC (Consumer Product Safety Commission) child-resistance requirements are mandatory. For the EU, ensure EN 13869 compliance. If the lighter contains a lithium battery, UN38.3 and MSDS reports are required for transport.
Metal lighters often feature PVD plating, lacquer, or brushed finishes. Request salt spray test reports to ensure the finish is resistant to corrosion and sweat. For branding, confirm if the supplier uses laser engraving, silk-screen printing, or embossing. Laser engraving is generally preferred for metal as it is permanent and does not fade with frequent handling.
Identify your target market's needs: Windproof jet flames are essential for outdoor and cigar scenarios, while arc/plasma lighters are ideal for eco-conscious consumers who prefer flameless, rechargeable options. For luxury gift markets, prioritize heavy-weight feel and premium packaging (tin or velvet boxes). For promotional items, focus on cost-effective slim designs with large surface areas for logos.
Lighters are classified as Dangerous Goods (Class 2.1 for gas, Class 9 for batteries). Most suppliers ship them empty (without fuel) to comply with air freight regulations. If shipping with fuel, you must use specialized DG containers, which significantly increases freight costs. Always verify the HS Code (typically 9613) to determine specific import duties in your country.
Start by requesting a pre-production sample to test the ignition success rate and finish quality. Negotiate based on tiered pricing; for metal lighters, a volume of 1,000+ units usually triggers a 15-20% discount. Ask for OEM/ODM capabilities if you require custom molds. Ensure the contract specifies a defect rate of less than 1%, with clear terms for replacements or refunds for faulty units.
Utilize Secured Trading Services on Made-in-China.com to protect your payment until the goods are shipped. Conduct a factory audit or third-party inspection (like SGS or Intertek) before the final balance payment to check for gas leaks and ignition consistency. Ensure all technical drawings and packaging artworks are signed off as part of the formal purchase agreement.
Be aware that some countries have strict anti-dumping duties on lighters from specific regions. Provide your customs broker with the MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) and Certificate of Origin promptly. For the US, ensure the Child Resistant (CR) mechanism is clearly documented, as customs may seize non-compliant shipments. Always choose DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) terms if you are a first-time buyer to simplify the tax and duty process.
