Wholesale plus size swimwear manufacturers

For plus-size swimwear, fabric composition is critical; look for a blend of 80% Nylon and 20% Spandex (Lycra) to ensure high elasticity and shape retention. The fabric weight should ideally be between 190-220 GSM to provide sufficient coverage and support. Additionally, ensure the use of chlorine-resistant and UPF 50+ rated materials to enhance product longevity and skin protection.

Prioritize designs that incorporate reinforced stitching, wide adjustable shoulder straps, and built-in underwire or high-density molded cups for bust support. For tummy control, verify the inclusion of power mesh lining. It is essential to request a size chart aligned with US or EU standards, as 'plus size' definitions vary significantly between Asian and Western markets.

Suppliers should provide OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certification to guarantee the absence of harmful substances. For the US market, ensure compliance with CPSIA (if targeting teens) and FTC labeling requirements (fiber content and care instructions). For the EU, products must adhere to REACH regulations regarding chemical dyes.

Current trends include high-waisted bikinis, tankinis with ruching details, and long-sleeve rash guards. Functionally, buyers are looking for quick-dry technology and colorfastness (Grade 4-5) to prevent fading from salt water and pool chemicals. Offering customizable prints (sublimation printing) is a significant competitive advantage for B2B buyers.

Always order pre-production samples to verify fabric hand-feel and stretch recovery. Utilize third-party inspection services (like V-Trust or QIMA) to conduct a Final Random Inspection (FRI) before the balance payment is made. On Made-in-China.com, prioritize 'Audited Suppliers' who have had their manufacturing capabilities verified by SGS or TÜV Rheinland.

Negotiate based on Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) rather than just the unit price. If a supplier's MOQ (typically 500-1000 pcs per style) is too high, suggest sharing the same fabric color/print across different styles to reduce their material waste. For repeat orders, negotiate a 5-10% volume discount or request free labeling/packaging services.

For seasonal goods like swimwear, use Sea-Air multimodal transport to balance cost and speed. Ensure the supplier uses moisture-proof packaging (silica gel packets and sealed polybags) to prevent mold during long-distance ocean freight. Clearly define Incoterms (e.g., FOB or DAP) in the contract to avoid hidden port charges.

Use Secured Trading Services provided by platforms like Made-in-China.com to protect your payment until delivery is confirmed. Avoid direct wire transfers to private bank accounts; always pay to the company's registered business account as listed on their audited profile. Ensure the Sales Confirmation (SC) includes detailed defect rate allowances (typically <3%).
