Wholesale real fur coat manufacturers

When sourcing real fur, you must evaluate the density of the underfur and the silkiness of the guard hairs. For example, Mink fur should have a dense, even nap with a natural sheen, while Fox fur is prized for its long, fluffy texture. Always request high-definition videos or physical samples to check for skin suppleness; the leather side (pelt) should be soft and pliable, not stiff or 'papery,' which indicates poor tanning or aged stock.

Compliance is the most critical factor in the fur trade. You must ensure the supplier provides CITES certification if the species is protected, and verify that the pelts are sourced from farms following Welfur or Origin Assured (OA) programs. For the US market, ensure labeling complies with the Fur Products Labeling Act, which requires the English name of the animal, the country of origin, and the manufacturer's RN number.

Focus on the stitching technique and lining quality. High-end fur coats should use specialized fur sewing machines with reinforced seams to prevent tearing. Ask if the coats are 'let-out' (long continuous strips) or 'skin-to-skin' (rectangular plates), as let-out construction offers a more fluid drape but at a higher cost. Additionally, ensure the silk or acetate lining is 'floating' at the hem to allow the fur to breathe and move naturally.

Real fur garments often run differently than standard textile apparel. You should provide a detailed size chart (including shoulder width, bust, and sleeve length) based on your target market (e.g., US vs. Asian sizing). Most professional manufacturers on Made-in-China.com offer OEM/ODM services, allowing you to customize the collar type, sleeve length, and fastening hardware (such as high-quality 'Kiska' fur hooks) to meet specific regional trends.

The biggest risks are Customs Seizures and High Import Duties. Many countries have strict regulations on animal products; if the scientific name on the invoice does not match the physical product, the shipment may be confiscated. Always work with a freight forwarder experienced in veterinary or wildlife inspections and ensure all Sanitary Certificates are included in the shipping documents.

Fur prices fluctuate based on raw material auctions (like Kopenhagen Fur or Saga Furs). Negotiate based on volume tiers; for instance, a 5-10% discount is typical for orders over 50 units. If you are a startup, look for suppliers on Made-in-China.com that offer low MOQs (1-2 pieces) for 'in-stock' items to test your market before committing to a large production run.

Real fur is sensitive to heat and humidity. For cross-border shipping, use air freight rather than sea freight to minimize exposure to moisture. Ensure the coats are packed in breathable non-woven bags, never plastic, and are not compressed tightly, which can crush the hair follicles. Upon arrival, garments should be stored in a temperature-controlled environment (10-15°C) with low humidity.

Given the high unit value of real fur, always use Secured Payment services provided by Made-in-China.com. Never pay 100% upfront; a standard 30% deposit and 70% balance after third-party inspection (such as SGS or Intertek) is the safest approach. This ensures the quality of the fur matches the approved sample before the final funds are released.
