Wooden ice cream spoon manufacturers

High-quality wooden spoons should be made from food-grade birch wood, which is naturally odorless and tasteless. Ensure the wood is FSC-certified (Forest Stewardship Council) to guarantee sustainable sourcing. The surface must be triple-polished to ensure a burr-free finish, preventing splinters during consumption.

For the US market, compliance with FDA (Food and Drug Administration) regulations is essential. For the EU, products must meet LFGB (Lebensmittel- und Futtermittelgesetzbuch) standards and EU Regulation No. 1935/2004. Additionally, look for ISO 22000 or HACCP certifications to ensure the manufacturing process meets global food safety management systems.

Buyers should verify the moisture content (ideally between 8% and 12%) to prevent mold during storage and warping in use. The breakage resistance should be tested by applying pressure to the neck of the spoon. For automated packaging lines, ensure the dimensional tolerance is within ±0.5mm to avoid machine jamming.

Suppliers on Made-in-China.com usually offer hot-stamping or laser engraving for logos directly on the handle. Packaging can be customized from bulk loose packing to individual paper wrapping, which enhances hygiene and brand visibility for retail or catering use.

The biggest risk is moisture and mold during long-term sea transit. Always require suppliers to include desiccants in the packaging and use seaworthy, double-corrugated export cartons. Another risk is phytosanitary compliance; ensure the supplier provides a Phytosanitary Certificate to clear customs smoothly.

For wooden spoons, pricing is highly sensitive to raw material costs (birch wood prices). Negotiate based on volume tiers; typically, orders exceeding 500,000 pieces can secure a 10-15% discount. Request a fixed price contract for 6 months to hedge against seasonal wood price fluctuations.

Always use Secured Trading Services provided by Made-in-China.com to protect your payment. Conduct a Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI) by a third party (like SGS or Intertek) to verify that the smoothness, moisture levels, and quantity match the Proforma Invoice before releasing the final 70% payment.

Since wooden spoons are lightweight but bulky, calculate the volumetric weight carefully. For large volumes, FOB (Free On Board) is recommended to maintain control over freight costs. Ensure the HS Code (typically 4419.90) is correctly declared to avoid anti-dumping duties that apply to certain woodenware in specific regions.
