8oz glass price manufacturers

Buyers should prioritize Soda-Lime Glass for general food and beverage use due to its cost-effectiveness, or Borosilicate Glass if the product requires high thermal shock resistance (e.g., for candles or laboratory use). Ensure the glass is Lead-free and BPA-free to meet international safety standards. For premium branding, look for 'High White' or 'Super Flint' glass, which offers superior clarity and fewer green/blue tints compared to standard glass.

For the US market, products must comply with FDA 21 CFR 177.2420 (Food Contact Substances) and California Proposition 65 regarding lead and cadmium content. For the EU, EC 1935/2004 and LFGB certifications are essential. If the 8oz glass is intended for cosmetics, ensure the supplier provides a Heavy Metal Test Report to guarantee product stability and consumer safety.

The neck finish (e.g., 70-400, 58-400, or Deep Lug) must perfectly match the intended lid to prevent leakage. For food preservation, specify Plastisol-lined metal lugs for vacuum sealing. For cosmetics, Phenolic caps or PP plastic lids with EPE liners are preferred for airtightness. Always request compatibility testing between the glass neck and the closure if sourcing them from different suppliers.

Key performance metrics include Annealing Quality (to ensure no internal stress that causes spontaneous breaking) and Wall Thickness Uniformity. A standard 8oz jar should have a minimum wall thickness of 2mm to 3mm for commercial durability. For carbonated beverages, the glass must pass a Internal Pressure Resistance test (typically >10 bar).

Glass is a high-risk category for damage. Insist on 5-layer corrugated export cartons and individual cell dividers (egg-crate packaging). For bulk orders, Palletization with shrink-wrap and corner protectors is mandatory to prevent shifting. Negotiate a Breakage Allowance (typically 2-3%) where the supplier replaces or refunds items exceeding this threshold, and always secure Marine Insurance (All Risks clause).

Price is heavily dependent on Volume and Weight. Since glass is heavy, shipping costs often exceed product costs. Negotiate based on Full Container Load (FCL) to significantly reduce the per-unit landed cost compared to LCL. Ask for a tiered pricing structure (e.g., 5,000 vs. 20,000 units) and inquire if the mold fee can be waived or refunded once a certain order volume is reached.

Prioritize Audited Suppliers on Made-in-China.com who have undergone third-party onsite inspections by SGS or TÜV Rheinland. Use Secured Payment services to ensure funds are only released after shipping documents are verified. Request a Pre-shipment Inspection (PSI) to check for bubbles, cracks, and neck finish accuracy before the final balance is paid.

Check the HS Code (typically 7010.90) for your specific country, as some regions impose Anti-Dumping Duties on glassware from specific origins. Ensure the supplier provides a detailed Packing List, Commercial Invoice, and Certificate of Origin (CO) to facilitate smooth customs clearance and potentially benefit from preferential trade agreements.
