Air filter pu mould manufacturers

When sourcing PU (Polyurethane) moulds, the material grade of the mould is paramount. You should prioritize high-quality aluminum alloy (6061 or 7075) or P20 steel for the mould base to ensure thermal stability. Key specifications include cavity precision (tolerance within ±0.05mm), surface roughness (Ra 0.8 or better) to ensure easy demoulding, and sealing groove design to prevent PU leakage during the foaming process. Ensure the mould is compatible with your specific PU foaming machine injection pressure and temperature settings.

The mould life cycle is a critical ROI factor; high-end aluminum moulds should support at least 50,000 to 100,000 shots, while steel moulds can exceed 300,000 shots. Ask the supplier for the hardness rating (HRC) of the inserts. For high-capacity needs, look for multi-cavity designs (e.g., 2-cavity or 4-cavity) that maintain uniform heating and cooling channels to ensure consistent curing times across all filter units.

Suppliers should ideally hold ISO 9001:2015 certification for quality management. Since these moulds are used to produce filtration components, ensure the mould release agents recommended by the supplier are REACH or RoHS compliant to avoid contaminating the filter media. If the end-use is automotive, the production process should align with IATF 16949 standards to ensure the final air filter meets OEM requirements.

Yes, professional suppliers on Made-in-China.com offer OEM/ODM services. You should provide 3D CAD files (STEP or IGES format). A professional manufacturer will perform a Moldflow analysis to predict how the PU resin will fill the cavity, ensuring there are no air bubbles or incomplete seals in the final air filter gasket. Verify if the supplier offers rapid prototyping or 3D-printed samples before final steel cutting.

Request a technical drawing approval phase before production begins. Ensure the locating ring diameter, nozzle radius, and mounting hole patterns match your injection or foaming equipment. Demand a T1 sample test report and, if possible, a video of the trial run (mould testing) at the factory to verify the demoulding smoothness and gasket flash levels.

Focus on the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) rather than just the unit price. Negotiate a milestone payment structure: typically 30-40% deposit, 30% upon T1 sample approval, and 30-40% before shipment. Use Made-in-China.com's Secured Trading Service to protect your funds. Also, clarify the mould ownership and maintenance clause—ensure you own the intellectual property and the physical mould after full payment.

Moulds are heavy and prone to rust. Insist on anti-rust oil coating and vacuum plastic wrapping before the mould is placed in a fumigated wooden crate. For sea freight, ensure the crate is bolted to a pallet to prevent shifting. Request the supplier to include a spare parts kit (e.g., ejector pins, springs, and seals) within the crate to avoid downtime due to minor component failures.

Verify the HS Code (typically 848071 for plastic/rubber injection moulds) to determine import duties in your country. Be aware of anti-dumping duties that may apply to steel products in certain regions. Ensure the commercial invoice clearly states the mould's material and application to facilitate smooth customs clearance. Always purchase marine cargo insurance covering 110% of the CIF value.
