Ammonium thiocyanate manufacturers

Ammonium Thiocyanate (NH4SCN) is a versatile chemical intermediate. In agriculture, it is used as a raw material for herbicides and pesticides. In the textile and dyeing industry, it serves as a catalyst for polymerization and a dyeing assistant. It is also critical in analytical chemistry for iron content testing, in photography as a stabilizer, and in the mining industry for precious metal extraction. Buyers must specify the purity grade (typically 98% or 99% min) based on their specific industrial application.

Buyers should demand a Certificate of Analysis (COA) for every batch. Key parameters include purity (≥99.0%), pH value (4.5–6.0 in 5% solution), and maximum limits for impurities like chlorides (≤0.02%), sulfates (≤0.02%), and heavy metals (Pb ≤0.002%). For high-end chemical synthesis, the moisture content must be strictly controlled to prevent caking and ensure reactivity.

As a chemical product, it must be accompanied by a comprehensive Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) or Safety Data Sheet (SDS) compliant with GHS standards. Ensure the supplier adheres to ISO 9001 for quality management and ISO 14001 for environmental standards. Depending on the destination country, check for REACH registration (EU) or TSCA compliance (USA) to avoid customs seizures.

Ammonium Thiocyanate is deliquescent (absorbs moisture from the air). It must be packed in hermetically sealed containers, typically 25kg plastic woven bags with a double-layer PE inner lining or fiber drums. Storage must be in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated warehouse, away from strong acids, bases, and oxidizing agents to prevent hazardous chemical reactions.

The primary risks include product degradation due to moisture and regulatory non-compliance. To mitigate these, use third-party inspection services (like SGS or Intertek) to verify quality before shipment. Ensure the supplier is a verified manufacturer on Made-in-China.com to reduce the risk of fraud. Always request a pre-shipment sample that matches the bulk production specifications.

While not always classified as a high-hazard class for all concentrations, it is often treated as a sensitive chemical. You must ensure the supplier provides a 'Certification for Safe Transport of Chemical Goods' for both sea and air freight. For sea freight, use Full Container Load (FCL) where possible to prevent cross-contamination with other goods, and ensure the container is moisture-proofed.

Focus on volume-based pricing; price breaks usually occur at 5-ton, 10-ton, and 20-ton (full container) increments. Negotiate payment terms such as Letter of Credit (L/C) or Trade Assurance to protect your funds until proof of shipment is provided. For long-term partnerships, ask for price formulas linked to raw material (e.g., carbon disulfide or ammonia) market fluctuations.

Always conduct transactions through secure channels. Verify the supplier's Business License and Export License for Chemicals. Use the Audit Reports available on Made-in-China.com to check the supplier's production capacity and factory authenticity. Never send payments to private bank accounts; ensure the account name matches the registered company name on the contract.
