Artificial turf pitch manufacturers

When evaluating artificial turf, you must focus on Pile Height, Stitch Rate, and Dtex (Decitex). For football (soccer), a pile height of 40mm to 60mm is standard, while multi-sport pitches may use 20mm to 35mm. The Dtex value (weight of the yarn per 10,000 meters) should ideally be above 8,000 for durability. Additionally, ensure the backing is UV-stabilized and features reinforced PP+Net+Latex or PU coating to prevent turf withdrawal and weather-related degradation.

For professional sports, the turf should ideally meet FIFA Quality or FIFA Quality Pro standards for performance and safety. From a chemical safety perspective, ensure the materials are REACH compliant (EU) or meet ASTM standards (US) to guarantee the absence of heavy metals and harmful VOCs. Fire retardancy certifications (Class Efl or higher) are also critical if the turf is installed in semi-enclosed or indoor facilities.

The infill—typically SBR rubber granules, TPE, or organic cork—is vital for shock absorption and player safety. SBR is the most cost-effective but can retain heat; TPE and EPDM offer better environmental profiles and lower heat retention. You must verify the infill density requirements with the supplier, as improper infill levels can lead to premature fiber matting and increased injury risks.

While 'low maintenance,' these pitches are not 'no maintenance.' Regular brushing (every 30-40 hours of use) is required to keep fibers upright and redistribute infill. You should also check for drainage efficiency; a high-quality pitch should have a drainage capacity of at least 180mm/h to prevent waterlogging during heavy rain.

The biggest risks are color batch inconsistency and yarn fibrillation issues. To mitigate this, always request a pre-shipment inspection (PSI) and a production sample from the actual batch being shipped. Ensure the supplier provides a UV stability warranty of 5-8 years, as inferior yarns will fade and become brittle within 12-18 months under high solar radiation.

Artificial turf is extremely heavy and bulky, usually shipped in 4-meter wide rolls. This requires 40HQ containers for cost-efficiency. Negotiate FOB (Free On Board) terms if you have a reliable freight forwarder, or CIF (Cost, Insurance, and Freight) if you want the supplier to handle the risk until the destination port. Be aware of demurrage charges at the port, as unloading large rolls requires specialized equipment like a carpet pole attachment for forklifts.

Utilize secure payment methods and prioritize suppliers on Made-in-China.com who have undergone Audited Supplier verification. Use Escrow-based payment services or Letters of Credit (L/C) for large-scale pitch projects to ensure funds are only released upon verification of shipping documents and quality compliance.

The contract must explicitly state the warranty period (typically 5 to 10 years) and define what constitutes 'excessive wear.' Include a clause for replacement of defective rolls and specify who bears the cost of re-shipping. It is also wise to request a 1-2% extra supply of turf and joining tape for future repairs, as matching colors later is difficult.
