Benzoyl peroxide manufacturers

Benzoyl Peroxide (BPO) is typically available in three main forms: Powder (75% water-dampened for safety), Paste (25%-50%), and Granular. For industrial applications like polymer initiation, a purity level of 75% or 98% is standard, while pharmaceutical grades for acne treatment require USP/BP compliance. Always verify the water content, as anhydrous BPO is highly explosive and rarely shipped in its pure form due to stability risks.

As a hazardous chemical, BPO must have a valid MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) and COA (Certificate of Analysis). For medical or cosmetic use, ensure the supplier holds GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) or ISO 22716 certifications. For industrial use, ISO 9001 is essential. Furthermore, ensure the product complies with REACH (EU) or TSCA (USA) regulations depending on your target market.

BPO is a thermally unstable substance that can undergo self-accelerating decomposition. You must confirm the SADT (Self-Accelerating Decomposition Temperature) from the supplier. Buyers should prioritize suppliers who offer temperature-controlled packaging and storage advice, typically recommending temperatures below 30°C (86°F) and keeping the product away from reducing agents, acids, and alkalis.

BPO is widely used as a polymerization initiator for acrylic resins and PVC, a curing agent for unsaturated polyester resins, and a bleaching agent for flour and textiles. In the personal care sector, it is a core active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) for anti-acne formulations. Identifying your specific application helps the supplier recommend the correct concentration and carrier medium (e.g., phthalate-free pastes).

Benzoyl Peroxide is classified under UN Class 5.2 (Organic Peroxides). It requires specialized hazardous goods containers and strict adherence to IMDG (International Maritime Dangerous Goods) codes. You must work with freight forwarders experienced in Class 5.2 logistics and ensure the port of entry is equipped to handle hazardous chemicals. Air freight is often restricted or prohibited for high concentrations.

Utilize secure payment methods and consider third-party pre-shipment inspections (such as SGS or Intertek) to verify the chemical composition and moisture levels. When sourcing via Made-in-China.com, look for Audited Suppliers to ensure the factory exists and possesses the necessary Hazardous Chemical Production Licenses.

Prices are heavily influenced by the cost of raw materials like Benzoyl Chloride and Hydrogen Peroxide. Negotiate based on volume tiers (e.g., 1-5 tons vs. 10+ tons) and consider long-term supply contracts to hedge against price volatility. Always ask if the quoted price includes specialized hazardous packaging (UN-approved drums or boxes), as this significantly impacts the final cost.

The most common delay is incorrect labeling or missing GHS (Globally Harmonized System) pictograms. Ensure the supplier provides labels in the language of the destination country. Additionally, verify if your country imposes anti-dumping duties on organic peroxides from specific regions to avoid unexpected tax burdens at the border.
