Black carrot powder manufacturers

When sourcing black carrot powder, the primary quality indicator is the Anthocyanin content, which determines the antioxidant potency and color intensity. You should request a Certificate of Analysis (COA) to verify the mesh size (typically 80-100 mesh) for solubility, moisture content (below 5%) to prevent clumping, and the extraction ratio (e.g., 10:1 or 20:1). Ensure the powder is produced via spray-drying or freeze-drying; freeze-dried versions better preserve heat-sensitive nutrients but come at a higher price point.

As a food-grade ingredient, compliance is non-negotiable. Suppliers must hold ISO 22000 or HACCP certifications for food safety management. For entry into the US market, FDA registration is required, while the EU market demands compliance with REACH and EFSA regulations regarding pesticide residues and heavy metals. If your brand targets health-conscious consumers, prioritize suppliers with USDA Organic, EU Organic, Kosher, or Halal certifications.

The choice depends on whether it is used as a natural colorant (E163) or a nutritional supplement. For beverages and jellies, high water solubility and pH stability are critical, as the color shifts from red to purple depending on acidity. For bakery products, heat stability is the priority. For nutraceuticals, focus on the standardized active ingredients (polyphenols and beta-carotene) rather than just the color.

Black carrot powder is highly hygroscopic (moisture-absorbing) and sensitive to light. Professional suppliers should provide double-layer PE bag packaging inside fiber drums. The ideal storage condition is a cool, dry, and dark environment. Under these conditions, the standard shelf life is 24 months. Always verify the production date to ensure you are not receiving old stock with degraded antioxidant levels.

Adulteration with synthetic dyes or cheaper fillers (like maltodextrin) is a common risk. To mitigate this, request pre-shipment samples and use third-party inspection services (like SGS or Intertek) to conduct a 'Fingerprint' test or HPLC analysis. On Made-in-China.com, look for Audited Suppliers whose production facilities have been physically verified to ensure they have the capacity to produce pure extracts.

Price is often tied to the Anthocyanin percentage. Don't just negotiate on the total price; negotiate based on the active ingredient concentration. For initial orders, suggest a tiered pricing structure where the price drops as your volume increases. If the supplier's MOQ (typically 10kg-25kg) is too high, ask for 'trial order' terms or check if they have ready-to-ship stock in their warehouse to bypass high minimums.

Food powders often face strict customs scrutiny. Ensure the supplier provides a complete Shipping Document Set, including the Commercial Invoice, Packing List, COA, and Phytosanitary Certificate. For shipping to the US or Europe, clarify the Incoterms (FOB vs DDP); DDP is often preferred for new buyers as the supplier handles all import duties and customs clearance, reducing the risk of the shipment being stuck at the border.

Always use secure payment channels provided by reputable B2B platforms. Avoid direct wire transfers to private accounts. Utilize Trade Assurance services on Made-in-China.com to ensure that your payment is only released to the supplier once you have confirmed the goods meet your specified quality standards and have been shipped on time.
