Broom filament manufacturers

Broom filaments are primarily made from PET, PBT, PP, or PVC. PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) is the most popular for cross-border trade due to its excellent bend recovery and stiffness, often sourced from recycled flakes to reduce costs. PP (Polypropylene) is lightweight and chemically resistant, making it ideal for industrial or wet environments. PBT is a premium option offering the highest durability and heat resistance, while PVC provides a soft touch suitable for delicate indoor surfaces.

Buyers must specify the diameter (typically 0.20mm to 0.60mm) and cutting length to ensure compatibility with tufting machines. Flagging (splitting the ends) is a critical feature for indoor brooms to pick up fine dust. Additionally, ensure the filament has consistent cross-section shapes (round, star, or hollow) and UV stabilization if the finished brooms are intended for outdoor use to prevent brittleness.

Request Reach or RoHS certifications to ensure the filaments are free from heavy metals and harmful plasticizers, especially for household products. Quality validation should include a tensile strength test and a boiling water shrinkage test (should be <5%) to ensure the bristles don't deform. For high-end markets, look for suppliers on Made-in-China.com who provide ISO 9001 certified production processes.

Suppliers generally offer color matching via Pantone codes and various textures (crimped/wavy or straight). Crimped filaments are preferred for adding volume and 'flick' action to the broom head. You can also request anti-static additives for electronic cleanroom environments or antibacterial coatings for medical/food-grade applications.

The primary risk is moisture damage and deformation during long-term sea freight. Ensure the supplier uses moisture-proof PE inner bagging and reinforced corrugated export cartons. Another risk is weight discrepancy; always clarify if the quoted price is based on net weight or gross weight to avoid paying for heavy packaging materials.

Filament pricing is highly sensitive to raw material resin costs. It is advisable to negotiate a formula-based pricing model linked to market indices for large, long-term contracts. For MOQs, while standard is often 500kg to 1,000kg per color, you can negotiate lower MOQs by choosing standard stock colors (black, green, or silver) already in production.

Since broom filaments are relatively dense but can be bulky, LCL (Less than Container Load) is common for trial orders, but FCL (Full Container Load) significantly reduces the per-kilogram freight cost. Utilize Made-in-China.com's logistics services to compare FOB and CIF terms, ensuring you have clear visibility over local port charges and customs clearance fees.

Always use Secured Trading services provided by platforms like Made-in-China.com to hold payments in escrow until the goods pass inspection. Conduct a pre-shipment inspection (PSI) to verify the filament diameter, color consistency, and weight before the final balance is paid.
