I have found results from1000+products and500+suppliers aboutBurn out velvet
When purchasing burn out velvet, the fiber composition is critical; typically, it requires a blend of a protein or synthetic fiber (like polyester) and a cellulosic fiber (like viscose or cotton) to achieve the 'etched' effect. You must verify the fabric weight (GSM), usually ranging from 150 to 300 GSM, to ensure it meets your specific application needs. Additionally, check the pattern precision and edge clarity of the burnt-out sections to ensure there is no fraying or bleeding of the velvet pile.
To ensure market access and consumer safety, prioritize suppliers who provide OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certification, which guarantees the fabric is free from harmful chemicals. For the US market, compliance with CPSC flammability standards (16 CFR Part 1610) is mandatory for apparel textiles. If the fabric is intended for upholstery, ensure it meets BS 5852 (UK) or CAL 117 (US) fire retardancy regulations.
Request Martindale Abrasion Test results; for commercial upholstery, a rating of >20,000 rubs is preferred, while for garments, a lower rating is acceptable. You should also ask for colorfastness to dry rubbing and washing reports (aim for Grade 4 or higher). Inspect the sheer base for tensile strength to ensure the chemical 'burning' process hasn't weakened the foundation fabric, which could lead to tearing.
This fabric is highly versatile, used in high-end fashion (evening gowns, scarves), home textiles (curtains, decorative pillows), and luxury upholstery. Most professional suppliers on Made-in-China.com offer customization for pattern design (CAD/CAM support), color matching (Pantone TPX/TCX), and width adjustments (typically 140cm to 280cm for home decor).
Always mandate a Pre-Production Sample (PPS) for approval before the full run begins. Since burn out velvet involves complex chemical processing, batch-to-batch color shading is a common risk. Negotiate a quality tolerance clause in your contract (e.g., within 5% variance) and consider hiring a third-party inspection service to conduct a During Production Check (DUPRO) to catch defects early.
Suppliers often have high Minimum Order Quantities (MOQs) for custom patterns (e.g., 500-1000 meters). To reduce costs, ask for 'ready-to-ship' (RTS) stock patterns if you are a small buyer. For large volumes, leverage tiered pricing; a 15% discount is often achievable when moving from 1,000 to 5,000 meters. Ensure the quoted price is based on Incoterms 2020 (e.g., FOB or CIF) to avoid hidden logistics costs.
Velvet is sensitive to pressure; ensure the supplier uses hard paper tubes for rolling to prevent 'pressure marks' or crushing of the pile. The rolls should be wrapped in double-layer plastic bags or waterproof woven bags. For long-distance sea freight, request silica gel desiccant packets inside the packaging to prevent mold growth caused by humidity changes during transit.
Utilize the Secured Trading services provided by Made-in-China.com to protect your payments. Avoid transferring full payments upfront; a standard 30% deposit and 70% balance against the Bill of Lading (B/L) is the industry norm. Always verify the supplier's Business License and Export Qualification through the platform's audited supplier reports.
