Car headrest manufacturers

When sourcing car headrests, prioritize High-Density Memory Foam (60-80kg/m³) or Polyurethane (PU) foam for optimal neck support and shape retention. The outer cover should be made of breathable 3D mesh, genuine leather, or premium PU leather that has passed colorfastness tests (Grade 4 or higher) to prevent staining car seats. Ensure the internal frame uses reinforced ABS plastic or stainless steel inserts for structural integrity.

Safety is paramount in automotive sourcing. Products must comply with FMVSS 302 (Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard) in the US or ECE R118 in Europe regarding flammability resistance. For the materials used, ensure they meet REACH or RoHS standards to guarantee the absence of harmful chemicals like phthalates or heavy metals. If the headrest includes electronic components (e.g., built-in screens), CE and FCC certifications are required.

Look for multi-point support designs that target the cervical spine, shoulders, and head simultaneously. A high-quality supplier should offer adjustable strap systems or universal mounting brackets to ensure compatibility with various car brands. For B2B buyers, it is recommended to request pressure distribution maps or ergonomic test reports to verify that the product effectively reduces driving fatigue.

Most professional suppliers on Made-in-China.com provide extensive customization. This includes logo embroidery or embossing, custom color matching to specific car interior palettes, and adjustable hardness levels for the foam. For high-end markets, consider hidden zipper designs and removable/washable covers which significantly increase the product's perceived value and lifespan.

Always request a pre-production sample to verify the foam density and fabric texture. Implement a Third-Party Inspection (TPI) such as SGS or Intertek before the final balance payment to check for stitching consistency (no more than 3mm variance) and odor levels, as strong chemical smells are a common reason for consumer returns in this category.

Focus on Tiered Pricing based on volume; for instance, aim for a 15-20% discount when moving from 500 to 2,000 units. Negotiate for spare covers (1-2% extra) to be included in the bulk price to handle potential minor defects. On Made-in-China.com, prioritize Audited Suppliers and use their Secured Trading Service to protect your down payment until the goods are shipped.

Car headrests are lightweight but bulky. To reduce Total Landed Cost, request the supplier to use vacuum compression packaging, which can reduce shipping volume by up to 50-70%. However, ensure the supplier uses high-resilience foam that can fully recover its shape within 24 hours of unpacking. For international trade, FOB (Free On Board) is generally recommended to maintain better control over freight costs and customs clearance.

Verify that the headrest design does not infringe on automotive brand patents (e.g., specific shapes patented by BMW or Mercedes-Benz). Ensure the Country of Origin (COO) is clearly marked on the packaging to avoid customs delays. Check the latest HS Code (typically 9404.90 or 8708.99) to accurately calculate import duties and taxes for your specific country.
