Color shift pigment manufacturers

Buyers should focus on particle size distribution, typically ranging from 10-60μm for smooth finishes to 50-200μm for high-sparkle effects. Ensure the pigment is composed of synthetic mica or silica substrates coated with metal oxides like TiO2 or Fe2O3. For automotive or outdoor applications, verify UV resistance and weatherability to prevent fading over time.

It is critical to confirm if the pigment is solvent-based or water-based compatible. For plastic injection molding, check the heat resistance (typically up to 800°C). For coatings, ensure the pigment has good dispersibility to avoid clumping. Always request a Technical Data Sheet (TDS) to verify chemical stability in your specific resin or paint system.

For cosmetic applications, pigments must be FDA approved or comply with EU Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009. For general industrial use, ensure the supplier provides a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) and complies with REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals) for the European market to ensure the absence of heavy metals like lead or mercury.

The 'travel' refers to the range of color changes at different angles. Request multi-angle spectral data or high-definition video samples under D65 standard lighting. High-quality pigments should show at least 3-4 distinct color transitions (e.g., Cyan-Blue-Purple-Red) with high color saturation and opacity.

The biggest risk is batch-to-batch inconsistency. To mitigate this, require the supplier to provide a Certificate of Analysis (COA) for every shipment. Another risk is shipping damage; pigments are sensitive to moisture and pressure, so ensure the use of vacuum-sealed foil bags inside rigid fiber drums for bulk transport.

Focus on tiered pricing based on volume, as pigments have high margins at low volumes. Ask for free samples (freight collect) to verify quality before committing to a large order. Negotiate for OEM packaging if you intend to resell, and use Diamond Member suppliers on Made-in-China.com who have undergone on-site audited reports by third parties like SGS or Intertek.

Powders are often flagged by customs. You must provide a Non-Hazardous Chemical Declaration and an MSDS to the freight forwarder. For shipping to the US or Europe, ensure the HS Code (usually 3206.19 or 3206.49) is correctly declared to avoid delays or additional tariffs. Consider Air Freight for small high-value batches to minimize exposure to humidity during sea transit.

Utilize Secured Trading Services offered on Made-in-China.com to ensure payment is only released after the goods are shipped. For large-scale procurement, hire a third-party inspection agency to perform a Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI) to check the weight, packaging integrity, and color accuracy against the gold sample.
