Custom resin figurines manufacturers

Buyers should distinguish between Polyresin (Polystone) and PU Resin. Polyresin is a mixture of resin and stone powder, offering a heavy, premium feel and excellent durability for collectibles. PU (Polyurethane) Resin is preferred for high-end hobbyist kits due to its superior detail retention and toughness, though it is more expensive. Ensure the supplier uses non-toxic, eco-friendly resins that comply with global safety standards.

The process typically begins with a 3D design file (STL or OBJ format). You should request a 3D-printed master sample for approval before the mold-making stage. Pay close attention to surface smoothness, sharp detail definition, and assembly tolerances if the figurine has multiple parts. Professional suppliers on Made-in-China.com often provide video inspections of the clay or 3D sculpt to allow for adjustments before final casting.

Specify the level of hand-painting required. For mass production, spray painting with masks is cost-effective, while hand-painted details are necessary for faces and intricate textures. Ensure the use of UV-resistant topcoats to prevent yellowing or fading over time. Request a Pantone color match to maintain brand consistency across different production batches.

For the US market, products must comply with CPSIA (Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act), specifically testing for lead and phthalate content. For the EU, EN71 Parts 1, 2, and 3 are essential to ensure mechanical safety and chemical non-toxicity. Always verify that the manufacturer holds a valid ISO 9001 certification and can provide Third-Party Lab Test Reports (SGS or Intertek).

Resin is inherently brittle. You must mandate Drop-Test Approved packaging, which usually involves custom-fit EPE foam or Styrofoam inserts inside a corrugated five-layer inner box. Avoid bulk packing; each unit should be individually protected. For large shipments, palletizing the cargo significantly reduces the risk of mishandling during transit.

Focus on the Mold Fee (Tooling Cost) versus the Unit Price. For long-term partnerships, negotiate a mold fee rebate where the supplier refunds the initial tooling cost once a certain order volume (e.g., 5,000 units) is reached. Always clarify Intellectual Property (IP) protection in the contract to ensure your custom designs are not sold to other buyers.

Utilize Secured Payment services provided by reputable platforms like Made-in-China.com to ensure funds are only released upon proof of shipment. Conduct a Factory Audit or hire a local inspection service to verify the supplier's production capacity and social compliance (BSCI) before placing a large deposit.

For high-value, low-volume collectibles, Air Freight is preferred to minimize handling. However, for bulk retail orders, Sea Freight (LCL or FCL) is the most economical. When shipping to the US or Europe, consider DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) terms if you want the supplier to handle all customs clearances and import duties, simplifying your local logistics.
