Drug bag manufacturers

Drug bags must be manufactured from medical-grade, non-toxic materials such as LDPE (Low-Density Polyethylene) or PET/AL/PE laminates. For light-sensitive medications, the material must provide a UV-protective barrier (often amber or opaque). Ensure the material is BPA-free and phthalate-free to prevent chemical leaching into the medication.

Suppliers should ideally hold ISO 13485 (Medical Devices Quality Management) and ISO 9001 certifications. For international trade, products must comply with FDA (US Food and Drug Administration) regulations for food-contact and medical packaging, or CE marking for the European market. Verify that the supplier provides a Certificate of Analysis (COA) for each batch.

For pharmacy dispensing, reclosable zipper seals are essential for patient convenience. For clinical or hazardous environments, tamper-evident seals and biohazard labeling are mandatory. If the bags are used for liquid medications, ensure they have reinforced side seals to prevent leakage under pressure during transport.

All printing must use medical-grade, non-smudge inks that do not migrate through the plastic. The layout should include clear sections for dosage instructions, patient names, and expiration dates. For high-volume orders, request gravure printing for better clarity and durability of barcodes and QR codes.

The biggest risk is material non-compliance, where industrial-grade plastic is substituted for medical-grade. To mitigate this, use Made-in-China.com's Secured Trading services and insist on third-party lab testing (SGS or Intertek) to verify the absence of heavy metals and ensure sterilization compatibility.

Customized printing usually requires a higher Minimum Order Quantity (MOQ), often starting at 10,000 to 50,000 units. Negotiate for a tiered pricing structure where the unit price drops significantly as volume increases. Request a pre-production sample for physical approval before the full production run begins to avoid mass-production errors.

Drug bags are lightweight but high-volume; therefore, shipping costs are often calculated by volumetric weight. To optimize costs, request vacuum-compressed packaging to reduce carton size. Ensure the outer shipping cartons are double-walled corrugated fiberboard to prevent crushing, which can damage the zipper seals of the bags inside.

Check the specific HS Code (typically 392321) for import duties in your country. Be aware of anti-dumping duties or plastic taxes that some regions (like the EU) impose on non-recycled plastic content. Always confirm if the supplier can provide a Certificate of Origin to help you benefit from preferential tariff rates under trade agreements.
