Eyeglass manufacturers

Buyers should prioritize materials based on durability and target market preferences. Acetate is preferred for high-end fashion due to its deep gloss and hypoallergenic properties. Titanium is the gold standard for premium lightweight and corrosion-resistant frames, ideal for sensitive skin. For budget-friendly or sports lines, TR90 (Thermoplastic) offers extreme flexibility and impact resistance. Ensure all metal components are nickel-free to comply with international health standards.

Eyeglasses are classified as medical devices in many regions. For the US market, products must be FDA registered and lenses must pass the Drop Ball Test (21 CFR 801.410) for impact resistance. For the EU market, CE Marking is mandatory, ensuring compliance with ISO 12870 for ophthalmic optics. Additionally, ensure frames meet REACH regulations regarding lead and cadmium content.

Request technical data sheets for Refractive Index (e.g., 1.56, 1.60, 1.67) and Abbe Value. High-quality lenses should feature Multi-Layer Anti-Reflective (AR) Coatings, Super Hydrophobic coatings, and UV400 protection. Ask the supplier for spectrophotometer test reports to verify blue light blocking percentages if sourcing 'blue light glasses'.

Focus on the hinge mechanism; spring hinges are highly valued for their ability to adapt to different face shapes and reduce breakage. The bridge design (e.g., universal fit vs. Asian fit) significantly impacts comfort. For wire frames, ensure silicone nose pads are medical-grade to prevent yellowing and skin irritation over time.

Always request a Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI). Specifically, instruct inspectors to check for symmetrical frame alignment, smoothness of temple folding, and lens mounting tension to prevent cracking. Utilizing platforms like Made-in-China.com allows you to select Audited Suppliers whose manufacturing capabilities and facilities have been verified by third-party agencies like SGS or TÜV Rheinland.

Standard lead times for custom acetate frames are typically 60-90 days due to the curing process. To reduce MOQs (Minimum Order Quantities), which often start at 300-500 pieces per model, suggest using ready-to-ship (RTS) frames and only customizing the branding. For bulk orders, negotiate a staggered delivery schedule to maintain fresh inventory without overwhelming your warehouse.

Eyewear is fragile and prone to pressure damage. Ensure the supplier uses individual polybags and hard cases, packed into double-walled corrugated export cartons. Specify the use of internal dividers within the master carton to prevent crushing. For high-value titanium frames, air freight is recommended to minimize handling time and humidity exposure compared to sea freight.

Avoid direct wire transfers to unverified accounts. Use Secured Payment services provided by reputable B2B platforms like Made-in-China.com, which hold funds in escrow until you confirm receipt of goods. Always define a clear Quality Claim Clause in your contract, specifying that a percentage of the final payment is withheld until the QC report is approved.
