I have found results from400+products and200+suppliers aboutGiant scale rc planes
When sourcing giant scale aircraft (typically 35% scale or larger), prioritize airframes constructed from laser-cut balsa and plywood reinforced with carbon fiber in high-stress areas like wing spars and landing gear mounts. For propulsion, ensure compatibility with gasoline engines (50cc to 150cc+) or high-voltage brushless electric systems. Key hardware should include heavy-duty ball-link linkages and titanium or stainless steel pushrods to handle the extreme torque of high-scale maneuvers.
Compliance is critical due to the size and weight of these models. Ensure products meet FCC (USA) or CE/RED (Europe) standards for radio frequency equipment to avoid signal interference. For batteries, UN38.3 and MSDS certifications are mandatory for LiPo (Lithium Polymer) shipping. Additionally, verify that the manufacturer adheres to ASTM F2856 standards for small unmanned aircraft systems where applicable to ensure structural integrity.
Request flight test videos and structural stress test reports from the manufacturer. Look for features like pre-hinged control surfaces and factory-balanced spinners. A professional supplier should provide wing loading specifications and recommended CG (Center of Gravity) ranges. For durability, check if the covering material is a reputable brand like Oracover or Ultracote, which offers superior UV resistance and shrinkage stability compared to generic films.
Top-tier manufacturers on Made-in-China.com should offer ARF (Almost Ready to Fly), PNP (Plug and Play), and RTF (Ready to Fly) configurations. For B2B clients, the ability to provide custom livery/paint schemes and OEM branding on the fuselage is a significant advantage. Ensure the supplier can provide CAD templates for electronic installation to facilitate the integration of high-end servos and power distribution systems.
The main risk is structural damage due to improper crating. Giant scale planes require double-walled corrugated boxes or, preferably, wooden crates for sea freight. Because of the large volumetric weight, shipping costs can be high; always negotiate FOB (Free On Board) terms to maintain control over your freight forwarder. Ensure the supplier uses internal foam bracing to prevent the fuselage from shifting during transit.
Utilize Secured Trading Services provided by Made-in-China.com to ensure payment is only released upon confirmation of shipment. For large bulk orders, implement a 30/70 payment structure (30% deposit, 70% after passing a third-party pre-shipment inspection). This protects the buyer against receiving sub-standard kits or incomplete hardware packages.
Focus on spare parts availability rather than just the unit price. Negotiate for a 2-5% inclusion of 'crash kits' (spare cowls, wheel pants, and landing gear) at no extra cost, as these are high-turnover items for retailers. Additionally, ask for volume-based discounts; typically, ordering in 20ft container loads can reduce per-unit shipping and manufacturing costs by 15-25%.
Yes, be aware of Harmonized System (HS) Code 9503.00, which covers scale models and toys. Some regions may impose anti-dumping duties or specific import licenses for items containing radio transmitters. Always verify if the engines or batteries need to be shipped separately to comply with IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations, as integrated shipping of large LiPo batteries can lead to customs seizures.
