Gimbal motor manufacturers

Selecting a gimbal motor starts with calculating the Total Payload Weight (camera + lens + accessories). For lightweight applications like smartphones or action cams, 22xx to 28xx series motors are sufficient. For professional DSLR or Cinema rigs, you must prioritize high-torque brushless motors (e.g., 52xx to 8xxx series). Ensure the motor's rated torque exceeds the calculated load by at least 20-30% to account for dynamic movements and wind resistance.

Precision depends on the Encoder Resolution and Cogging Torque. Look for motors equipped with Integrated Magnetic Encoders (12-bit to 14-bit) to provide accurate position feedback to the controller. Additionally, Low Cogging Torque designs ensure smooth rotation at low speeds, which is vital for cinematic shots. Verify the Hollow Shaft diameter if you need to pass slip rings or internal wiring through the motor to allow for 360-degree continuous rotation.

Sensored motors are the industry standard for professional gimbals because they provide absolute position data, allowing for faster recovery after a bump and better stability at extreme angles. Sensorless motors are cheaper but prone to 'drifting' and are generally only suitable for DIY hobbyist projects or very basic stabilization tasks. For B2B procurement, always specify AS5048A or similar encoder integration.

Since gimbal motors are electronic components, they must adhere to RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) for environmental safety and CE Marking for the European market. If the motor includes integrated drive electronics, EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility) testing is essential to ensure it doesn't interfere with drone flight controllers or wireless video transmitters.

Request a Factory Inspection Report that includes Dynamic Balance Testing and Stator Insulation Resistance tests. For large orders, use a third-party inspection service to verify the KV value consistency across the batch. On Made-in-China.com, prioritize Audited Suppliers who provide video proof of functional testing before shipment.

Focus on Customization Capabilities rather than just unit price. Ask if they can modify the Winding (KV value) or Shaft Length to fit your specific frame design. Negotiate for a tiered pricing structure where the unit cost drops significantly at the 500+ and 1,000+ unit thresholds, and request a 1-2% spare parts allowance for bulk orders to cover potential field failures.

Gimbal motors contain strong permanent magnets which are classified as Dangerous Goods (Class 9) for air freight if the magnetic field strength exceeds certain limits. Ensure the supplier uses Magnetic Shielding Packaging (iron-lined boxes) and provides a Non-Dangerous Goods Declaration or a Magnetic Inspection Report to avoid customs delays and additional handling fees.

Use Secured Payment terms (like those offered on Made-in-China.com) that hold funds until shipping documents are verified. If you are ordering a Custom-Wound Motor or a proprietary design, ensure a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) is signed before sharing CAD files to prevent your design from being sold to competitors.
