Glass goods manufacturers

For B2B procurement, the glass type must match the application. Borosilicate glass (3.3) is essential for laboratory and high-end kitchenware due to its thermal shock resistance. For construction or furniture, Tempered Glass is mandatory for safety, as it must meet ASTM C1048 or EN 12150 standards. If sourcing for food and beverage, ensure the glass is Lead-free and Cadmium-free to comply with FDA or LFGB food-grade certifications.

Buyers should request Stress Analysis Tests to check for internal tension and Fragmentation Tests for tempered glass. For decorative or container glass, check for optical clarity (absence of bubbles, stones, or waves). It is highly recommended to use third-party inspection services to verify dimensional tolerances and annealing quality before the balance payment is made.

When providing blueprints, specify the edge grinding type (e.g., flat edge, pencil edge, or beveled edge) and surface treatments like anti-reflective (AR) coating, acid-etching, or silk-screen printing. Ensure the supplier supports CAD/BIM software for precise integration. For insulated glass units (IGU), confirm the U-value and Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) to meet energy efficiency requirements.

For the US market, SGCC (Safety Glazing Certification Council) is vital for architectural glass. For the European market, look for the CE Mark and compliance with REACH regulations. If you are sourcing through Made-in-China.com, prioritize Audited Suppliers who hold ISO 9001 for quality management and ISO 14001 for environmental standards.

Glass is a high-risk category for damage. Insist on seaworthy packaging, specifically fumigated wooden crates with cork spacers or EPE foam between sheets. For LCL (Less than Container Load) shipments, use A-frame racks. Ensure the Incoterms include CIF (Cost, Insurance, and Freight) or purchase All-Risk Marine Insurance to cover potential transit losses.

Focus on Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) rather than just the unit price. Negotiate based on volume tiers; for example, increasing an order from a 20ft to a 40ft container can reduce unit shipping costs by 20-30%. Ask for a mold fee rebate policy if your custom order exceeds a certain volume over time. Always verify the factory's production capacity to ensure they can meet your lead-time requirements during peak seasons.

Use Secure Payment services provided by platforms like Made-in-China.com to ensure funds are only released upon proof of shipment. For large contracts, utilize a Letter of Credit (L/C) to protect both parties. Never wire full payments upfront; a standard 30% deposit and 70% against the Bill of Lading (B/L) is the industry norm for established trade relationships.

Be aware that certain countries impose Anti-Dumping Duties (ADD) on specific glass categories (like solar glass or float glass) from certain regions. Always check your local Harmonized System (HS) Code (typically starting with 70) against current trade barriers. Consult with a licensed customs broker to calculate the landed cost accurately before finalizing the purchase.
