Glow paint manufacturers

It is crucial to distinguish between the two: Photoluminescent paint (glow-in-the-dark) absorbs light and emits it in total darkness, typically using Strontium Aluminate for long-lasting afterglow (8-12 hours). Fluorescent paint (neon) requires a UV/Blacklight source to appear glowing and will not be visible in complete darkness without that light. For B2B sourcing, specify the afterglow brightness (mcd/m2) and decay time to ensure the product meets your specific application needs.

Since glow paints are chemical products, they must comply with international safety standards. Ensure the supplier provides a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) and a Technical Data Sheet (TDS). For the US market, ASTM D-4236 (labeling for chronic health hazards) is essential. For the EU, REACH compliance and EN71-3 (safety for toys/consumer goods) are required to ensure the paint is non-toxic, non-radioactive, and lead-free.

Water-based glow paints are preferred for indoor DIY, crafts, and eco-friendly projects due to low VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) and easy cleanup. Solvent-based (Acrylic/Epoxy) paints are necessary for industrial, outdoor, or high-traffic areas (like road markings or emergency exits) because they offer superior weather resistance, UV stability, and adhesion to metal or concrete surfaces.

The cost is primarily driven by the pigment concentration. High-grade Strontium Aluminate pigments are more expensive but require fewer coats to achieve the desired brightness, reducing labor costs. When evaluating suppliers on Made-in-China.com, compare the solid content percentage rather than just the price per liter to determine the true coverage rate (sqm/L) and long-term value.

Glow paint is often classified as 'Sensitive Goods' or 'Dangerous Goods' (Class 3 Flammable) if it is solvent-based. You must ensure the supplier provides a UN38.3 or a Certification for Safe Transport of Chemical Goods. Failure to provide correct documentation can lead to customs seizure or heavy fines. Always confirm if the supplier has experience in handling DG (Dangerous Goods) packaging.

Request a sample kit and perform a 'darkroom test.' Measure the initial brightness and the visibility after 60 minutes. Additionally, check for pigment sedimentation; high-quality glow paint should have anti-settling agents to prevent the heavy glow powder from hardening at the bottom of the tin. For large orders, consider a third-party pre-shipment inspection via services available through Made-in-China.com.

Focus on customization of glow duration and color. Standard green/yellow glow is the cheapest; aqua or blue glow usually costs more. Negotiate based on volume-based pricing tiers, and ask for free replacement guarantees if the paint fails to meet the specified glow duration. For long-term partnerships, request OEM labeling and customized packaging sizes (e.g., 1L, 5L, or 20L drums) to suit your local market distribution.

For small batches, Air Freight is fast but expensive due to chemical handling surcharges. For B2B bulk orders, Sea Freight (LCL or FCL) is the most economical. Ensure the use of palletized shipping to prevent leakage. If you are importing to a specific country, verify if there are anti-dumping duties on chemical pigments from China, though this is rare for finished glow paint products.
