Handle dental floss pick manufacturers

The handle is typically made of High-Impact Polystyrene (HIPS) or Polypropylene (PP) for rigidity. For the floss itself, UHMWPE (Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene) is preferred for its high tensile strength and shred-resistance, while PTFE (Teflon-like) is ideal for tight interdental spaces due to its low friction coefficient. Eco-friendly buyers should look for PLA (Polylactic Acid) or cornstarch-based biodegradable materials.

As a medical/personal care device, products must comply with FDA registration (Class I) for the US market and CE Marking (MDR 2017/745) for the EU. Ensure the manufacturer holds ISO 13485 (Medical Devices Quality Management) and that all materials are BPA-free and food-grade certified to ensure user safety.

Focus on the tension stability of the floss; it should not sag or snap under moderate pressure. The handle should feature an ergonomic non-slip grip and a tapered pick end that is flexible yet strong enough to remove debris without splintering. For flavored versions, verify that food-grade essential oils (like peppermint) are used.

Suppliers on Made-in-China.com typically offer customized packaging (polybags, plastic cases, or eco-friendly paper boxes), embossed logos on the handle, and custom colors. Minimum Order Quantities (MOQ) for custom printing usually start at 50,000 to 100,000 pieces to maintain cost-efficiency.

The biggest risk is material substitution, where a supplier uses industrial-grade plastics instead of food-grade ones. To mitigate this, request third-party lab test reports (SGS or Intertek) and use Trade Assurance services on Made-in-China.com to ensure the goods match the agreed-upon specifications before final payment.

Since floss picks are lightweight but high-volume, shipping costs can significantly impact the unit price. Negotiate for FOB (Free On Board) terms to control your logistics. For bulk orders exceeding 1 million units, aim for a 15-20% discount compared to the standard wholesale price, and request vacuum-compressed packaging to reduce shipping volume.

Many countries categorize floss picks as medical devices. You must ensure the HS Code (typically 3924.90 or 3306.20) is correctly declared. In the US, the importer may need an Owner/Operator registration with the FDA. Always confirm that the Country of Origin is clearly marked on the outer carton to avoid customs delays.

Prioritize Audited Suppliers on Made-in-China.com who have undergone on-site inspections. Check their export history to your specific region and request a factory video tour to inspect their clean-room production environment, which is critical for oral care products.
