Hoodie factory manufacturers

When evaluating a hoodie factory, you must focus on fabric weight (GSM), material composition, and construction quality. For premium streetwear, look for 350-500 GSM heavy fleece, while promotional items typically use 240-280 GSM. Ensure the factory uses combed cotton to prevent pilling and offers reinforced stitching (double-needle topstitching) at the armholes and waistband for durability. Additionally, verify their dyeing process to ensure colorfastness (Grade 4 or higher).

To ensure market access, the factory should provide OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certification, which guarantees the textiles are free from harmful substances. For the US market, compliance with CPSIA (especially for children's hoodies) is mandatory. If you are targeting eco-conscious consumers, prioritize factories with GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) or GRS (Global Recycled Standard) certifications to validate organic or recycled material claims.

A professional factory should offer multiple branding techniques, including Screen Printing, DTG (Direct to Garment), 3D Embroidery, and Puff Printing. Ask for a tech pack review to see if they can handle custom woven labels, silicone-tipped drawstrings, and custom metal aglets. Requesting a pre-production sample (PPS) is the only way to verify their ability to match your specific Pantone colors and logo placement accuracy.

Assess the factory's monthly output capacity and their Minimum Order Quantity (MOQ). Top-tier manufacturers on Made-in-China.com often have flexible MOQs ranging from 50 to 500 pieces per color. Check if they have in-house cutting and sewing lines versus outsourcing, as in-house production offers better quality control and more reliable lead times (typically 15-30 days) for bulk orders.

Always implement a third-party inspection (FRI - Final Random Inspection) before the final payment. Focus on size chart deviations (ensure tolerance is within +/- 1.5cm) and weight verification. Using Trade Resources on Made-in-China.com can help you identify Audited Suppliers whose business licenses and production facilities have been physically verified by independent agencies like SGS or TÜV Rheinland.

Negotiate based on Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) rather than just the unit price. Discuss volume-based pricing tiers; for instance, increasing an order from 500 to 1,000 units can often reduce costs by 10-15%. Additionally, negotiate payment terms, such as a 30% deposit and 70% balance after the inspection report is approved but before shipment, to maintain leverage over quality.

Hoodies are high-volume items. To save costs, request vacuum packaging to reduce the cubic volume of the cartons, which can lower Sea Freight costs significantly. For urgent seasonal launches, consider Sea-Air combined transport. Ensure the supplier provides a detailed Packing List and Commercial Invoice with the correct HS Code (typically 6110.20 for cotton hoodies) to avoid customs delays and ensure accurate duty calculations.

Conduct all communications and payments through secure channels. Utilize Escrow-based payment services offered by reputable platforms like Made-in-China.com to ensure funds are only released once you confirm receipt of goods. Avoid using untraceable payment methods and always verify that the beneficiary bank account name matches the registered company name of the factory.
