Large glass jar manufacturers

Buyers should prioritize High Borosilicate Glass if the application involves thermal shock or high temperatures, as it offers superior durability compared to standard soda-lime glass. For food-grade applications, ensure the glass is Lead-Free and BPA-Free. Additionally, verify the wall thickness (ideally ≥3mm for large volumes) to ensure structural integrity and resistance to impact during transport and usage.

For the US market, products must comply with FDA 21 CFR 177.2420 standards for food contact surfaces. For the EU, Regulation (EC) No 1935/2004 and LFGB certification are essential. If the jars include metal or plastic lids, ensure they meet REACH requirements for chemical safety. Always request SGS or TUV third-party lab reports to validate these claims.

The sealing mechanism is critical for shelf-life. Look for food-grade silicone gaskets or PE liners within the lids. For fermentation or long-term storage, airtight wire-bail (fido) lids or vacuum-seal screw caps are preferred. Request a leak-proof test report or a sample to perform a 'water-turnover test' to ensure no leakage occurs under pressure.

Professional suppliers usually offer OEM/ODM services, including custom mold creation for unique shapes, logo printing (silk screen or decal), and surface treatments like frosting or electroplating. For branding, you can also customize the packaging (color boxes or drop-test certified mail-order packaging) to reduce breakage rates during last-mile delivery.

Glass is a high-risk category for damage. You must mandate 5-layer corrugated export cartons and individual bubble wrap or EPE foam inserts. For bulk shipments, insist on palletization with plastic wrap and corner protectors. It is highly recommended to negotiate a breakage allowance (usually 2-3%) or ensure the supplier agrees to replace items if the damage exceeds a specific threshold upon arrival.

Focus on Tiered Pricing; glass production is energy-intensive, so unit costs drop significantly as volume increases due to furnace efficiency. Ask for 'Gold Member' or 'Audited Supplier' status verification to ensure you are dealing with a factory rather than a small trading company. Discuss Incoterms clearly—while FOB is standard, CIF might be safer for novice buyers as the supplier handles insurance until the destination port.

Utilize Secured Trading Services provided by Made-in-China.com to protect your payment until shipping documents are verified. For quality control, hire a third-party inspection agency (like V-Trust or QIMA) to perform a During Production Check (DUPRO) and a Final Random Inspection (FRI). Never release the final 70% balance payment until the inspection report is approved.

Large glass jars are 'light cargo' (high volume, low weight), meaning you may be charged based on volumetric weight. To optimize costs, ask the supplier to nest smaller jars inside larger ones if you are buying a range of sizes. For large-scale B2B orders, Full Container Load (FCL) is significantly safer and more cost-effective than Less than Container Load (LCL), as it reduces the number of times the fragile cargo is handled.
