Maize bag factory manufacturers

When evaluating maize bags, you must prioritize GSM (Grams per Square Meter), which determines the fabric strength; for a standard 50kg maize bag, a GSM of 70-85g is typically required. Ensure the bags feature UV stabilization (usually 200-300 hours) to prevent degradation during outdoor storage. Additionally, verify the mesh count (e.g., 10x10 or 12x12) to ensure the weave is tight enough to prevent leakage of fine particles while allowing necessary breathability to prevent mold.

Since maize is a food product, the factory must provide FDA (Food and Drug Administration) or EC 1935/2004 compliance certifications to ensure the plastic resins and color masterbatches are non-toxic. Look for factories with ISO 22000 or HACCP certifications, which guarantee food safety management systems are in place during the manufacturing process. For international trade, ISPM 15 compliance for any wooden pallets used in shipping is also mandatory.

Request a Drop Test Report from the factory, where a filled bag is dropped from a height of 1.2 to 1.5 meters to check for bursting. You should also confirm the tensile strength of both the fabric and the bottom stitching. Double-folded bottom stitching with high-denier polyester thread is the industry standard for preventing bottom failure during high-stacking in warehouses.

A capable factory should provide BOPP (Biaxially Oriented Polypropylene) lamination for high-quality photographic printing and moisture resistance. They should also offer anti-slip weaving or coating to ensure stability when bags are stacked 20-30 layers high. For branding, ensure they use flexographic or rotogravure printing with food-safe inks that do not rub off during handling.

The biggest risk is material substitution, where a factory uses recycled PP instead of 100% virgin resin, leading to brittle bags. To mitigate this, use Made-in-China.com's Secured Trading services and insist on a pre-shipment inspection (PSI) by a third party like SGS or Intertek to verify the weight, dimensions, and material purity before the final balance is paid.

Pricing for PP bags is highly sensitive to global crude oil prices. Negotiate a formula-based pricing model if you plan on long-term procurement. For MOQs, while large factories prefer 20ft container loads (approx. 50,000-100,000 bags), you can negotiate a smaller trial order by selecting standard sizes (e.g., 50cm x 90cm) that the factory produces regularly for other clients.

Maize bags are high-volume, low-weight items. To optimize freight costs, ensure the factory uses high-pressure hydraulic baling presses to pack the bags, which can increase container capacity by up to 20%. When shipping to regions with high humidity, request silica gel desiccant packets inside the container to prevent moisture buildup and 'container rain' that could damage the printing or cause odors.

Always verify the supplier's Business License and Export Permit through the Audit Reports available on Made-in-China.com. Use Letters of Credit (L/C) for large transactions to ensure payment is only released upon presentation of valid shipping documents, or utilize Escrow-based payment systems for smaller initial sample runs to protect your capital.
