Neodymium magnet hook manufacturers

The pull force is the most critical metric. Always verify the Grade of the Neodymium (e.g., N35, N42, N52); higher numbers indicate stronger magnetic energy. Ensure the supplier provides a Pull Force Test Report. Note that the rated strength is usually measured on a 10mm thick polished steel plate; vertical pull strength is typically 3-5 times higher than horizontal shear strength due to friction factors.

Neodymium magnets are highly prone to oxidation. The standard coating is Ni-Cu-Ni (Nickel-Copper-Nickel), but for high-humidity or outdoor environments, you should request Epoxy or Zinc coating. Demand a Salt Spray Test (SST) report—typically 24 to 48 hours for standard use and 96+ hours for marine or industrial applications to ensure long-term durability.

The hook is usually a separate steel component screwed into the magnet base. Ensure the thread engagement is deep enough to prevent stripping under load. For industrial use, prioritize 304 Stainless Steel hooks over A3 steel to prevent rusting. Check if the magnet is encased in a steel cup (Pot Magnet design), which not only protects the brittle magnet from chipping but also concentrates the magnetic field to significantly increase pull force.

For global markets, products must be RoHS and REACH compliant to ensure they are free from hazardous substances. If the magnets are intended for consumer retail or toys, they must meet EN71 (EU) or ASTM F963 (US) standards regarding magnetic flux index to prevent ingestion hazards. Always request Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for shipping purposes.

Magnets are classified as Class 9 Dangerous Goods in air transport if they exceed certain magnetic field strengths. You must ensure the supplier provides Magnetic Shielding Packaging (using iron sheets and foam) to pass the IATA Magnetic Inspection. For sea freight, this is less restrictive, but proper labeling and MSDS documentation are still mandatory to avoid customs delays.

The most common fraud is substituting N52 magnets with N35. To prevent this, use Made-in-China.com's Secured Trading services and hire a third-party inspector to perform a Gauss Meter test and a random pull force test before the final balance payment. Never rely solely on the supplier's internal photos.

The price of Neodymium is tied to Rare Earth market fluctuations (PrNd oxide prices). Negotiate a price validity period or a formula-based pricing model for long-term contracts. Ask for volume-based tiered pricing; since the setup cost for plating runs is high, increasing your order from 1,000 to 5,000 units can often reduce the unit price by 15-25%.

Certain high-performance Neodymium sintering processes are covered by international patents (e.g., Hitachi Metals). Ensure your supplier holds a legal license to export to your specific region (especially the US and EU) to avoid your shipment being seized by customs for patent infringement.
